I found Phelan's interview far more worrying than the piss poor team selection and performance. It's one thing making a mistake, as long as you learn from it and don't make it again, but not even knowing you ****ed up is unforgivable.
For me, the biggest mistake of the whole day was not putting Tymon on when we were 0-2 down. We haven't got any experienced full backs for the foreseeable future and any experience he can get is invaluable. What did we have to lose? Soz if this has been said before, I haven't read the previous pages.
I agree it was another error by an inexperienced coach, however the biggest errors for me we're starting with Keane again and using the same 4-5-1 formation that had seen us capitulate at Bournemouth. If his intention is to make Keane feel part of the set up maybe he should also consider what he's doing to the lads confidence!
The last thing we needed was risking another big loss and we needed to get the strikers on, it also showed that Clucas looked decent at LWB. Tymon will probably get his chance at Bristol, bringing him on yesterday would have been a mistake.
I couldn't disagree more. Everyone keeps saying he hasn't got Premier League experience, so give him that in a game we've already lost. Now, for our next Premier League game people will still be worried about risking him cos he hasn't got any experience. As for not risking 'another big loss', how is playing him against Bristol avoiding that?
I don't remember people specifically saying Tymon hasn't got Premier League experience, the reality is he has no league experience at any level at all. And Clucas will start there in the next Premier League game regardless. Bristol are a lesser team, playing in a lesser cup competition, it's nothing like dropping him straight into a Premier League game.
It's normal to go and get some experience at a lower level, or at least impress in a few cup games first.
Agree with Bummers. Tymon should have started if not he should definitely have come on at LWB. No pressure then and lets see how he does. Clucas could have gone into CM and drop Livemore or Mason or Snodgrass. Any one of them was easily droppable.
How much experience would he get playing for 40 mins in a game which we "had already lost"? And if Phelan did that, other people would be saying we had given in. Imagine if they had scored more also, wouldn't have helped anyone's confidence.
Hate to state the obvious,'WE HAVE NO CONFIDENCE'.... from the players, to the manager, to the owners to the supporters. !!!!!
Shaqiri, as well as being a bloody good player, isn't half a whiny little prick. He was moaning at the linesman and Clucas for most of the second half over an absolute nothing incident. That daftness at the final whistle in a game where you've just won and been the star was really weird.
