Didn't they televise absolutely everything and lose attendances to that, too?
The figures for this season are absolutely shocking. Crotone v Atalanta was watched by 522 people, according to Sky.
What level of English football do you have to drop to in order to hit that figure?
Barnet have the lowest average in League 2 and it's over three times that.

Loved the AC Milan sides of the late 80's and early 90's as well as those 10-15 years ago.

They were unlike most italian sides. Able to be tactically defensive and work the ball like a game of chess BUT also play free flowimg expansive, attacking football. Most recent sides with the likes of Gattuso Pirlo Kaka Ambrosini Seedorf Inzaghi Maldini Cafu. ****ing hell. And that's without mentioning legends such as the dutch trio from a decade earlier.

I think part of the reason the CL is turned to **** is bcos Italian sides aren't a powerful force in Europe anymore.

Just look at the line up AC Milan had for the 2005 final. Even in this country they probably had more players most fans knew about than us. I would struggle to name more than a couple of players in even the big Italian teams today.

PS the highlights of the Inter v Saints game showed that Saints should have battered them . <yikes>
though you sometimes can read too much into one game remember Norwich tonking Bayern

Wonder if the style had a thing to do with it. Italian teams known for being tactical, defensive and hard to beat, if you went 1-0 down the game was over and everyone could go home.

Last 10 years or so, football has taken a big turn in way teams play. Way Barca have taken possession and attacking football to new levels has got everyone exvited for attacking football and teams have tried to follow.

I can't say I watch much Italian football (probably lack of coverage also another reason why less money in the league) but I don't imagine they've all become attacking sides if you look at the Italian national side and the fact all their best players are defenders.

Are fans blred of wathing? Have they tried to change their mentality to attack and as such become poorer in comparison to German, Spanish and english sides?

We don't all feel the need to attach ourselves to distant teams to feel some achievement.

Tbf it that's when it certainly ended for Liverpool in the league. Well technically a couple of years earlier but the PL was the last nail in the coffin.

Question is though, when will you next win one or get as close as Liverpool have recently?
