selection poor from the off, when he did change it to 3-5-2 we looked markedly better, not brilliant but better then we had been. Gonna be a long hard season this, unless something changes we are relegation fodder .. simple !
Phelan getting loads of credit on the stream I was watching for being pro active and changing things.....i'm staggered, it's not like he's a new manager, or even new to the club and still 'learning' most on here called it at kick off that that starting 11 was underwhelming and too negative for a home match to a bottom 3 team. Those 20 odd mins with 3-5-2 and us attacking were what we should have seen for 90 mins.
Down into the bottom three. Unless we turn things around, it's going to be a long miserable winter and our winters are long and miserable enough as it is.
Ok that is enough from Phelan. Time to appoint an experienced manager. Maybe a promising Championship Manager? That Bruce chap has really turned it around at Villa.
Why would you want to,those 2 ****wits would just screw around with the price again and tell us Phelan is a tactical genius.
It's frustrating because Stoke weren't better than us at all but they've walked away winners because of a free kick and a good shot from outside the box. Despite giving the ball away a lot, we had the better passages of play. All three of them who had turns up front did alright (Keane needs to be stronger in challenges though) but we lost out in midfield and missed Robertson and Odubajo's pace at fullback. Let's start 3-5-2 next game and see what happens. It's a strange one because it really felt as if some fans had given up. No atmosphere before kick off, half-hearted appeals for the penalty, more walking out earlier towards the end, etc. I don't blame them. There's only so much of this crap from the Allams that we can take. They've really crushed our club.
I'm inclined to agree but I have to remain hopeful. Following City and England for 45 years has taught me to have limited expectations, to savour the few highs and to live with disappointment. I'm inspired by Filey, he always has a good day regardless of results.
Yeah. Played some really good stuff up towards their end, but couldn't finish anything. That's how it looked to me, anyway.
I think all you doubters should be ashamed. This was a 'free hit' against a quality team, let's judge how we do next week...
