Very true. Seems that many a son are often not so interested in their fathers passions. My son hates sport. I do remember distinctly Harold Needler's Roller parked outside the turnstiles on the North stand parking lot every home match. Think the number plate was HN 888 or 888 HN...more likely the former as they didn't reverse letters & numbers until later ? There was also some fancy sports car (maybe even a Jensen Interceptor) that appeared next to the Roller a few years later with the licence plate showing HN 88. Might that have been Chris N's vehicle do you know ?
Under the photo of the Souvenir Programme and Carter and H Needler is a small error. In the programme Needler said "Saturday, 31st August( not 1st) will always be a Red Letter day in my life". Certainly a Red Letter day for me too even though I got a little bit wet. Rained for most of the day and I was in Bunkers!
Very true, luckily my son and Grandson have the same passion for sport as I have, and are both City fans and have passes the same as me. From memory HN number plate was 888HN, as from as Chris was concerned, as the time I know him, he just had a normal number plate, but that might have changed when he got older.

My eyes ain't so good these days but from what I see at the moment the first 2 in the air are Ted Heath and Mick Milner, the last but one is Chilton, the 3rd last stood on the ground Andy Davidson and the last one stood on the ground Ian Butler, just don't, ........... I think.

Ted? Heath where did that one come from (groan) you are right Canada I did mean Terry Heath, like so many players of that era I don't know what happened to him, transferred or retired, he was just no more.
Cheers John at least I got something right (Re:Ted Heath) but if I remember correctly when City were looking for a replacement for Mike Milner they wanted Millwall's Barry Kitchener, a powerful centre half in those days. But Millwall wouldn't let him go so we bought his team mate instead, Tom Wilson.
Has a chat with Mick a few months ago at one of the games, I used to play golf against him from time to time.
When the lights were being installed we could watch it from our classroom window, Wheeler St school, and on one occasion it was a very windy day and a section actually dislodged after being put in place, don't think any serious damaged was done though, but I bet the guys (steeplejacks?) installing them were shi**ing themselves.
Yes they did, Mick was a very good golfer played of 4 when I played with him. I played a bit with Paul Feasey as well, don't know why centre half's were good at golf?
Cannot ever recall nets being put up behind the goals at Boothferry Park and the gates didn't open just after half time. At best they would open ( to let people out, not let people in) with about 15 minutes to go, and this got later and later. Dave King was a centre forward in the early 60's and I'm sure ( without referring to Chris Elton's bible) that he was our leading goal scorer one year. He finished his days on the coaching staff. On the day the club finished him he turned up at Chalk Lane club one night during an Action Group meeting, grabbed the mic and sang Sinatra's 'My Way' before walking off the stage, straight out of the club and through the exit, then someone told us Dave King had just heard the club had sacked him.
