Had a look and the only thing I can see is Charlie pushing his marker slightly harder than the marker is pushing him?

The ref was poor. Perfectly suited to their antics......unfortunately.

Our first season in the Premier League was tough. But we took most defeats on the chin and still found positives. And we have improved every season. It will be the same in the Europa. Even if we don't progress from the group, it is six big learning curves for the squad, and we will be much better prepared next season.

(Yes, we will qualify for it :))

Then we'll sell everyone, Claude will fulfill his destiny at Arsenal and we're start again......happy in the knowledge that Les will pull a rabbit out of the hat.

(for anyone on a black n white lap top, its blue, okay. <laugh>

Do we get the same ref for the return fixture?

Jay himself did nothing but score. For the rest of the players in the flightpath of the ball it was a case of heads went up, and that was about it. Not that you'd look for a foul but I didn't see one. I shall certainly be running it through a few times when I watch any highlights.

According to ESPN Austin was offside.

From a corner..? All I remember though was celebrating for about 10 secs before we realised it had been disallowed

obviously not direst from the corner as the ball was played backwards, but as soon as Jrod heads it you can be offside

But the ball went straight in from JRod, no other interference

Celtic went through in the European Cup one year against Benfica on the toss of a coin after finishing all square on aggregate. Horrible way to get eliminated.

So after having some time to sober up and reflect a little, and I can't believe I'm uttering (typing) these words, but I agree with Tom! Yes the ref wasn't very good, but it really shouldn't have mattered if we had anything like a decent forward. Shane Long is Shane Long, he is brilliant at everything but scoring, whether or not you think that makes him a striker we should have in our side is up for debate but personally I like what he brings to the side as long as he is not relied on for goals. J-Rod is either still not fit, rusty or not good enough for this level. I hope its rustiness but I fear I am wrong as he looked to have lost that pace which was his main strength, as for Ides comparing him to Ronaldo, i think I'll just leave that one. Austin is a goal scorer, he needs some service as he is not going to create much by himself, and we have that service in Tadic, we just need somebody else on the other side of the 3 who is a goalscorer/creator aswell and we will be a pretty good side imo. Hopefully Boufal is that, far too early to tell but last night he had some good touches and you can tell he has ability. I don't know how long I've been saying it (I rated Pelle far less than FLT if you can believe that :D) but we need to sign another attacking player. Last season we were pretty ineffective going forward in my view. Yes the odd game it would click but consistently we weren't at the level that the club is aiming to be, and now we have sold our 2 biggest scorers and replaced them with Austin and Boufal for less than half of what we sold Mane and Pelle for, surely there is money to go and get another forward player? We play a front 3 so we have Long/Redmond/Austin/Boufal/Tadic/J-Rod, numbers wise fine, but unless Boufal can chip in with 15 goals a season I think we need to be looking at replacing one of Long/J-Rod.

Little lunch before the journey home.

Great game last night - shame about the result, but coming away from The San Siro disappointed is not a bad thing (and I'm not saying the shows how far we've come stuff) and shows how good we are. The fact that Milan wasted so much time and gave away cynical fouls shows they were worried too.

An amazing away-day and I'm not saying that to make you jealous[emoji4]. Great to meet a few of you, even if brief due to my dysfunctional sibling....

Sat at the airport... way too early and hangover just starting to kick in. Wanna get home now but had an amazing trip despite the disappointment of the loss.
