I went to Alicante to visit a friend a couple of years back in February and it was pretty chilly.

Still bright and sunny but chilly.

    Where abouts are you?

****ty Tory governing would be my first guess.
See when Thatcher got booted out, with all that **** involving Heseltine, I was like 7 years old.
So dont remember much about her government, though opinion is greatly divided if you ask folk now.
My memories of John Major aren't much better.
Blair is the first PM whose tenure I have vivid memories of, and I loved it. Foreign Policy aside of course.

Every country has beautiful sights, I suppose.
I preferred Germany, lots of beer, awesome food, cold weather!
I would move to Russia if I could (for the weather only of course)
    Cannot stand the Sun,.

    About 50-60 kms from Alicante.

The sun controls everything here. In mid winter, if it's shining you can sit in a sheltered spot in a t-shirt. But if that sun disappears!...

Ok, that explains it partly. I live the sun and absolutely hate being cold!

Exactly, the Terminator had detailed files on human anatomy, because it made him a more efficient killer :)
Same reason why Blair has detailed files on the Middle East :p

Seriously though, I really liked Blair as a PM when it came to home policies and whatnot.
Was just his siding up to Dubya and the whole Middle East debacle that loses him points for me.

Blair was actually likeable at face value.

It took a good few years before most people clocked on to what he was getting up to.

Even when you hear him now he's very believable. Best orator we've had in years.

    Dangerous chap.

Blair was a champion at diversionary politics. Health service ****ed up? Education going down the ****ter? Answer; start a debate about fox hunting. Something you know that virtually the whole country has a strong view on.

Get that nicely stirred up and they'll take their eye of the real situation!

I always thought he should have got more credit than he did for that. While what happened was not good but I think it would have been a whole lot worse without Blair restraining the US.

    Maybe.
Not sure a quarter of a million dead Iraqi's would share that sentiment though :p

    Afghanistan was required.
    Iraq was gratuitous and unethical.

Just sailed through passport control at Rome airport. Non EU queue is an hour long. <laugh>

It will be the little things that gradually start to grate (assuming not everyone hides away in a white, English, Christian village in the Midlands).
