If Saints are looking for a striker in the January window, maybe Arsene could lend us Welbeck as it looks as if there is little chance of him playing for Arsenal any time soon.
Have to agree, it's only fair. I would love to do the next one if people wanted me too but kinda takes the meaning away from it. I'm glad I got to do this historic one. Maybe I'll do another streak later in the season if people don't step up.
Another thing quick, it's easy to say we're not clinical enough which is true (and has been for a long time!) But I think we were a bit unlucky tonight too. Virgils volley he couldn't do too much more than get it on target and the one off the line seemed unlucky too. Though we were at other end so would appreciate feedback on second one in particular.

When he first joined Saints I thought he was a one dimensional old fashioned poacher who could finish, hold it up and head the ball well. I was talking with a QPR fan who said that that was a common misconception and he grafts, closes down and is a far more complete striker than he is given credit for. On the basis of what I've seen from Austin so far he was right and on a side note IMO a big upgrade on Pelle
As mentioned by others I think JWP was very good and I think has been good consistently this season. Seems notably more combatant, even if he doesn't get anywhere he's been throwing himself about, backing into players and remarkably today won two headers against Gnokhouri. Maybe that's Puel's influence, or perhaps he's just taking a note out of li'l Harry Reed's book. Good to see there's still a lot of sculpting left to do as he had certainly plateaued a bit.
Shaktar look as if they could win the entire tournament this year. If Sevilla get through to the knock out phase of the CL, then that is the favourites (Sevilla) out of the way. As for Saints it is going to be difficult playing against Inter (their vast expeience and gamesmanship will be to the fore again in two weeks time, thus making Mourinho look like an amateur in this department) And again Sparta have vast, vast experience so it is tough for us.
He was, but how long do we have to wait for him to learn how to shoot.? JWP [and Steve Davis, by the way] takes every opportunity to lift the bar over the bar. In his anxiety to do the right thing he side foots the ball for accuracy as he seems to lack the confidence to hit the ball with the instep. He ends up leaning back and skying the ball. Whatever happened to leaning forward and getting the knee over the ball to make sure the shot stays down?
