Well yes, I agree with that to an extent. I've said we're a bit light in the proven striking department on several occasions upto and since the transfer window closed. If it wasn't for Austin we'd be rather goal shy. One cant rely on a striker who is trying to find his instinct and pace of a game, one who is a converted winger, and one who has never been prolific. We need that second accomplished striker.
We can't rely on Austin the way we are because his injury record isn't great. If he's out for a few weeks, which inevitably he will be, I really can't see where the goals will come from
Not sure about that. They have a lot of technical ability, are able to keep the ball when they have to, let the opposition have it and draw their sting. Just very different ways of playing the game that makes the English approach appear superior to the Italian one.
Understandable that we're disappointed to lose that. On the bright side we created a hatful of chances and on another night we would have demolished them. That night may only be two weeks away. Focus on the positives and get back to clean sheets and a bit of luck with our chances. Im pretty unimpressed with Inter. They came across as negative, niggly lot. Hopefully they get their comeuppance at St Marys.
I seriously hope we smash them at st Mary's. And that every goal is celebrated by: - running to their fans. - celebrating in their faces. - celebrations are all play acting and everyone rolling around injured.
By the way the ref was absolutely diabolical. Not saying it's the reason we lost as it's not, but let facts be spoken, he was ****e
As I have said myself. I'll admit that Charlie Ausitn has really surprised me. He used to be a finisher who had fantastic movement in the penalty area. Now he is much more the complete striker. He still gets caught offside a bit, and his finishing is still his best attribute [no bad thing], but he links play and works much better than I thought he ever could. And he's actually a bit harder than I thought he was. I've seen him on the end of a few tackles this season and started to worry, only for him to spring up off the deck, so my respect for Charlie has gone right up. But there's the nagging doubt that he can keep it up because, as you say, his injury record isn't the best. Bit of trivia: Way better than Andy Carroll's though, who WHU warmly welcomed to their club.
Inter style of playing is ***** but Inter, while being a pale shadow of former times, did show plenty of technical ability, coupled with the ability to frustrate the opposition, and can be lethal given the opportunity.
