Hello and welcome to the match thread for our final pre-season game against Valencia. We have played five games this pre-season and have had mixed results. We started with a 4-3 win against Guangdong Sunray Cave and followed that up with a 6-3 win against a Malaysia XI. We came back to England after our pre-season tour of Asia and played Hull City. We were beaten 3-0 by a strong Championship side. We then flew to Istanbul and played Galatasaray. The team wasn't the best and many fringe players were involved and we were beaten 3-0. After these 2 disappointing results, we went out to Norway and played Valerenga. It was an encouraging performance but the game ended 3-3 with a late goal for Valerenga. Today's game kicks off at 5.30PM and is available on LFCTV online and ESPN. If anybody has any links for today's game, please post them so that everybody can watch our final pre-season game. Thanks for the thread, Chris. I'm hoping for a less leaky defence today to make me feel a little more confident about the CB situation. Also, would like mata to have a good game and treat it like an interview for KK
i'd love us to play well and win and go into the season on a high, but either way it won't have much impact on the Sunderland game. Let's be honest we will lose 3-1, everyone will say we still have a lot of work to do to make top 4, and John Henry will get bombarded with 'please sign Juan Mata' tweets. It's nailed on! Downing will be involved in our only goal as we pull it back to 2-1. Would be so nice to see everyone in tandem though and attacking them with verve!
Should be a good game. I would hope that the team that starts is going to resemble something like our first 11 against Sunderland next week. Give them a bit of time playing together before the proper games start.
Hoping for a change today. We'd better put out a strong line-up. Agger and Carroll need the games too. Start with Adam too.
Fabio Aurelio returns for Liverpool as they take on Valencia at Anfield this afternoon - and you can watch the game live on LFC TV Online from 4.30pm BST. The Reds team in full is: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Aurelio, Adam, Henderson, Spearing, Aquilani, Downing, Carroll Subs: Jones, Doni, Cole, Maxi, Kyrgiakos, Kuyt, Lucas, Ngog, Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson. Helluva team! Imagine many will be happy seeing Aquilani in there as well! Also means Henderson on the right i guess.
The games not on LFC TV... it's online but not the TV. It is being shown at 8pm on LFC TV EDIT: Like you said!!!
Nice that's much better. Interesting to see Aqua is still in the team. I realy do think just Carroll up front isn't a great idea. We go to direct. Hope to be proved wrong.
I think Aquilani is a good safeguard against us going too direct. Also i just copied the LFC.tv thing so if that's wrong then...meh
Bin Lucas.... You hungover? The main reason we've let 3 goals in all pre-season games is due to Lucas not playing
Looks like a decent team. I would be happy if that back 5 started againt Sunderland and add in Kuyt, Lucas & Suarez for Henderson, Spearing & Adam then it's probably the strongest team we could field next week. Looking forward to the game and hope we play some decent football. Henderson & Downing should be able to get plenty of crosses in and can see Carrol scoring a couple today. I'm going for 3-1 Carrol with 2 and Kuyt to come on and get the 3rd
