Yeah for me the skyline is what you think of as the traditional skyline, 3 Graces etc. I don't include the Beetham in that btw.

Im referring in general terms i suppose. Like london etc etc. Most port cities seem to have it happening.

25mil for a dock site in prior eras would be astounding

When would you say it was that these sites would have been called worthless?

I remember when Heseltine was the minister for Merseyside and got the ball rolling on dredging the Albert Dock, the demo firm I worked for at the time were contracted to supply tipper wagons to help take away the ****e the dredgers took out of the dock and a few years later I found myself working for a firm of plasterers on the new apartments in the dock building itself.

    Oh sorry I misunderstood.

Worthless?? They are world heritage sites don't ya know. Seriously, they have been left to decay for decades so any development would be welcomed. Personally I'd like it done with a bit of class and while they don't build them like they used to, it would be nice to see some buildings that aren't going to look/be outdated in 50 years time.

I really like the idea of leaving the outside as it is and doing what you like inside on those warehouses. I believe some of those apartments are fantastic. Was it Urban Splash who did that with the matchworks and the old Littlewoods Pools buildings?

The main contractor on the Albert Dock(building interior)modernisation was a building company called Fleet, they went bust a few years later after the bosses got prosecuted for fraud, they were giving bungs to get contracts(including the city council), but I don't know who actually owned the building, but Urban Splash rings a bell tbh.

That's pretty funky. Can't see it over here tbh. I went to Minute Maide Park in Houston, they have a train that slowly moves along a train track every time a player hits a home run.

Horrible down there if you're working outside. Although the hotel was nicely air conned, as was the taxi to the office and the office building was nicely air conned too. Whereas on a hot day in London, the tube is sweaty and vile and our office building here is dated and the air con doesn't work and vice versa in the winter for heating. <grr>

Did you go for a bevvy on main Street after your Astros game?

My 3 favourite watering holes downtown on main street were The Flying Saucer, Shay McElroy's and Molly Malone's.

I didn't get to go to any bars as such, but we did go for an awesome BBQ joint, Jackson's I think it was called. It wasn't far from the stadium.

    I love that design mate.

However, Dan Meis has been chatting to Blues on twitter and he's said the design will not resemble anything he's previously been involved with or any other current stadium. Intriguing

    Poor Billy.<laugh>

Rumour has it he's now a barman in The Liffey Irish Pub in town after his butty van went bust because of Brexit fears, Billy being a bit dyslexic thought it was Breakfast fears and sadly the rest is history, just like his old butty van.:bandit:
