.... this happened...... McClown's finest hour and Gini looked a world beater....... please log in to view this image A lot of Scousers I know think Gini doesn't deserve a place in their starting XI right now. This got me thinking... would he be decent in our current division or would he struggle?
I think he'd have his head in other places. Players like Janmaat and Gini were clearly too affected mentally by poor team performance to muster much fight even in the PL, so who knows how they would have reacted to being here in the Champ. The ability is there, but he goes missing far too often and it was clear in the summer that his value to the club was becoming more financial than any footballing sense.
Dutch players in general have a poor mentality. I think it's largely because they are brought up in the belief that they are better than anyone else and when things go wrong, they refuse to graft. Not all Dutch players of course, but most.
will it be remembered as much as this though 24 years ago today for those who can't wait O.G. from 15:00 on O'brien from 1:20 on
McClown's best game but we were still ****, 3-2 at half time and they were all over us at the start of the second half and looked more likely to win the game. Only ended in that stupid scoreline cos they gave up in the last 20 mins. If only we'd lost and he'd been axed after this game and we'd got Rafa in then...
