So, despite all the Diego bullshit about everything else it appears that utd did only have six touches of the ball in our box. No shame in those kind of tactics as they worked and utd got the best out of the game that they could. As much as I dislike mourinho I have never hidden my appreciation of his ability to set up a team to play for a point. Tonight was a text book example of that ability, although I have to say that given the relative finishing positions of both teams last season , the incredible net spend by utd since then and factoring in that utd now have what many utd fans consider to be the best manager in the world that tonights showing by utd was a bit pathetic really. To sum up, yes this can be seen as a point gained by Liverpool and it stopped a potential top 4 rival gaining any ground on us but in hindsight I feel people will look on this as 2 points dropped.

We didn't need to block our area much seeing as we had the majority of possession, not that the stat means much to you or Liverpool's points total. Seeing as there appears to be nobody worthwhile about, I shall return tomorrow.

After starting well, Utd parked the bus. Typical Mourinho tactics playing very deep with zero space between the defensive line and midfield. He got what he came for and you have to say that Utd executed his defensive tactics perfectly. We weren't good enough to break them down. There'll be more games like that at Anfield this year....we need to be better.

What an awful match - neither team deserved to win. United defended extremely well but offered very little going forward and we simply weren't good enough. A lot of our issues stemmed from a makeshift midfield, and little movement from Sturridge. I love DS but I just can't see him lasting long here. Lallana's introduction made a positive difference but I think Firmino moving into CF really helped us by dragging defenders out of position. As good as United defended and pressed us, we were incredibly sloppy on the ball. Not a great performance but it's a point and we're still in a good position. Penny for Ings's thoughts - smashing at u23 level but can't get a look in.
Must be horrible having Mourinho as manager, watching crap like that every week. They literally set out to foul us as much as possible and the ref didn't want to book anyone early, so it encouraged them. Typical anti football tactics too, wasting time in the first half is just ridiculous. Also a massive lol to Mourinho for his post match comments where Geoff shreeves said they only had 35% possession, but Jose thought it was Liverpool that did and he rambled on about how they controlled the ball etc.
