I am definitely not happy with tonight's result after watching the game, we should have done much better with what we had.
What happened to the Klopp gegenpress and all out attack that makes you lot so happy, was it nullified and outplayed, has it shaken your belief a little bit :emoticon-0100-smile

Sorry, but you never looked like scoring at all until Zlatan fluffed his big chance.

Interestingly, 'ol Auntie Beeb has this stat:
That surprises me. Us being so bad obviously led me to believe that you were better than you were.

Nope, just cements the fact it won't work with certain players and how important Lallana is.

Be honest, you were hanging on for a long period when he came on

Nobody will regain the success of the Fergie years, we all know that. What makes you think you are on the way up? Arsenal, City, Spurs are all well above you (and us) at the moment. I am hoping for a top 4 finish (hoping), but top 6 will do for the first year with a new manager. What are you hoping for?

7th to 8th is down from most points of view, 4th to 5th on GD is hard luck down. We are both on the same trajectory :emoticon-0100-smile

Anyway, this game was the biggest bore in the world. Should have expected that from a Mourinho outfit. United are physical and strong all over the field. I honestly thought Liverpool was going to do a City on United. Game cost me quite a bit as liverpool were part of an accumulator (4 figures). Bastards!.

Anyway as for the match, i think Klopp only has himself to blame. From what i saw, up until the Lallana substition, both teams nullified each other. There wasn't any decent chances bar Ibras fluff at a header.

Why Klopp did the following for the first 70 minutes. It was pretty bad the first 25 and even at half time it was obvious it wasn't working. Why wait til 70 to make changes:

    - Persist with Sturridge for so long. After watching Liverpool after lallana came on and seeing the movement of all the attackers and the interplay, it seems an even more obvious sub... sturridge didn't make any runs, had a poor touch all night and didn't do much to shift their defence. Hell even start with Origi so you can gengenpress.

    - Can and Hendo cannot move the ball quick enough, Matip and Lovren were passing it about between themselves half the time

    - Couts was man marked in the middle and so deep. Why not move him back to the left and shove firmino into the centre as Firmino actually links up play pretty well in the middle but is shocking on the left and deep

    - as mentioned mane kept slipping over? change his boots.

For those saying firmino for not finishing that chance, i don't think the touch was that bad, it was more he ran out of gas since he'd been pressing all game and everywhere as Sturridge was sitting around. You can see he's cramped up afterwards.

De Gea made 1 pretty good save and a worldie from Coutinho

Overall a pretty boring game with very few chances and most of the play being in the middle being lost

    <laugh>

Think about it Diego, a game between two teams that back in the day might have had an impact on the title race(even though Utd weren't involved) and vice-versa during the Fergie years, I honestly can't remember a Utd team coming to Anfield looking for a draw.
And I know you know the same.

But if you want to keep up your pretence fairy snuff..:emoticon-0105-wink:

Have to disagree.... i think mourinho was a little bit more negative than fergie in his latter years but that might be more to do with him playing ibra whos so slow up front.

United used to specialise in anti football and building a solid wall and hitting on the counter against Arsenal as fergie knew that was the way to defeat them

You think that that was boring, wait until Chelsea v United on Sunday <whistle>

Lallana wasnt fully fit for 90 mins or else he would have started with sturridge on the bench. Can't blame klopp for that.

Lala had been injured and was a doubt until the last minute. I think Klopp was reluctant to risk breaking him until it was obvious that nothing else was going to work.

That is fair enough, but he should have started origi who would definitely have put himself about a bit.

He also should have not left firmino on the left and Coutinho as a dm :p. liverpool were as negative as united in the first half

Bobby, with all due respect mate you're miles off track, man yoo have been renowned for their swashbuckling attacking flair, that has(so far this season under Maureen)vanished, I guarantee the hordes at OT won't swallow that on a permanent basis. <ok>

So, are you saying that if a team shows up with a good defensive plan (happens at OT most weeks), you have no idea how to get pats them?

You won't find many of us arguing that.
Have you watched Origi lately? He's been a trifle underwhelming.

Yes, fergie of course is more attacking that Jose and always will be. But fergie in his latter years made the unit functional when the glaziers purse strings tightened except in the final year when he got van persie.

To be honest i was talking about this particular game when jose was more negative than usual, Fergie used the same tactics against teams he thought were superior technically, Barcelona and Arsenal
