My lad has just put this project out on Kickstarter as well as for crowdfunding. It might be of interest to some of you. http://www.maunderxv.com/
I don't need 'deep cover' - I have a postcode which puts me in the next village, next county division, next parliamentary constituency...
I may well not understand this, but in the spirit of the fact that he might require thickies like me to fund it I thought I'd share my queries 1. If I give him £1000 it reads as if I'd get 50% off 5 coats. So presumably they're well over £400 each to make it worthwhile? But I can't tell how much they would cost? It maybe needs to be clearer why you would want to bother funding? 2. If you're a tech clothing geek (possibly like me!) and you're looking at waterproof and breathable gear you want to know the Hydrostatic Head figures for both (8-10k being really good for example although you can go up to 20k) Just my ten penneth. Hope it's of some use However it might be down to me reading / misreading on my phone!
You could spend a grand on a veilance, I've got a couple and can't recommend them enough, and be happy... bit of a risk buying a garment that hasn't been made? I thought this was a beard sale at first... I can't work out if you get an item for donating or get a discount. Or, is it just me? If it's a jacket at less than half RRP then it's a decent offer... are these in the £850 new price range and competing with the best? Must be, if my maths are right. I'd look at actuated sleeves, too, which are a big plus in my book.
Mike believes that there is a gap in the market for this type of jacket at this price range. Kickstarter is all about funding the production and not just buying a jacket. You pledge your support and if enough people do the same, the jacket is made and your reward is a jacket, with savings on the projected retail price. You can ask as many questions as you wish by sending him a message from kickstarter or the web page. Mike would love your input as he is a big fan of the Arc'teryx veilance.
