Will the Indian GP be ready soon or will it be ready at the last minute like korea? I don't think the track itself is going to set the world alight. I liked the design at first but now it just seems like another boring tilke creation that has no feel to it, no standout corners and no elevation. Seriously, why can't tilke create a track (apart from malaysia) that has a good atmosphere and an interesting design like Spa or Interlagos? Now the trend seems to be focusing more on the facilities instead of the track characteristics. Thoughts?
I thought the track had loads of elevation changes? I might be confusing it with Austin though. I'm looking forward to it, and Korea as well. They seem to lack the magic of places like Spa and Silverstone, but I reckon they'll both end up being far better than Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Beijing.
Maybe i'm confusing it with Austin. I know the first 3 corners have a fair amount of elevation but i'm pretty sure the rest of the track is fairly flat. But you're right, both it and korea will be way more exciting than those three. i've always felt korea was one of the better tilke creations
Both seem to have ok elevation, at least they are not a car park. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I think it will be a success. The track might not be interesting, but the fans and what it will do to engage F1 in growing communities and markets will help more than anything else. I hope Karun Chandhok gets a go in the Lotus for that GP for obvious reasons
Too many lon straights followed by hairpins. To test the drivers, he should include more high speed corners
they are the hallmarks of a tilke track aren't they. i'd love to see a corner like Ascari thrown in, having said that he did make turn 8 at turkey so i can't give too much shctick. I just want this one to have a little bit more magic than the last few tracks that have created (except korea).
I'm not a big fan of the track layout but I hope the race is a success. The long straight reminds me of Abu Dhabi - I hope overtaking opportunities aren't the same! I'm not sure about the penis shaped part of the track either. Austin looks good. India doesn't. Still, Pirelli can make a terrible track produce a good race. Welcome to the forum by the way.
You poor chap. Have you considered an operation? I hear they can work wonders these days⦠I think Tilke's Indian effort will be one of his better ones. The uphill braking zones should be entertainingâ¦
I agree that it looks like a 'power' circuit, also rewarding good mechanical grip. This will be interesting on a brand new surface which will not have had time to 'cure' properly, making it treacherous if it's damp. I also expect a strong performance from Ferrari. The uphill braking zones will suit drivers such as Hamilton and Kobayashi.
Yeah, and it is normally hot and humid in India, which will help Ferrari with the warm up, but there is the monsoon season where it lashes it down. I will check online and see whether the monsoon season is around about the time of the weekend.
Got it now: The nation has four seasons: winter (January and February), summer (March to May), a monsoon (rainy) season (June to September), and a post-monsoon period (October to December). The race will be in post monsoon, so their will be rain around... interesting...
I reckon Austin looks like more of a drivers circuit. it'll be good to see that even though turkey sadly gets dropped next year there'll still be a Turn Eight although at Austin it will probably be called Turn 16/17/18. Intresting note about the weather PMC, the provisional calendar for next year shows India at around about April and they're worried it will be too hot at that time of year.
I always look forward to new tracks, I'm ever hopeful that one day a new track will actually be worth the effort
I've given up hope on new tracks, and it's all Tilke's fault. Why can't the designers of gran turismo design the f1 circuits. They've produced some masterpieces.
