How exactly is she a "poor girl". She made a stupid mistake and decided to ruin somebody else's career and take 2 and a half years of their life away from them? It's been confirmed today that she is NOT a victim. Ched Evans is the one people should feel sorry for. Not only has his career been ruined and he lost part of his life but he had to deal with the fact that everybody viewed him as a rapist. Poor bloke.

I remember people on here (and pretty much everywhere else) saying he should never be allowed to play football again, even before he was found guilty. If the search function worked, I'd have a look back and see what was said. I posted about "innocent until proven guilty" meaning just that. It's a horrible crime. But it is just a crime, no more, no less. It shouldn't be treated differently from other crimes in terms of the rights of the accused. They have rights as well but there was a huge call for those rights to be ignored when he was charged. The jury hasn't found him guilty at his retrial so he's innocent. With a bit of luck he might get back for the last five years of his career and make what he can of it. The problem, of course, is that no-one's won. Her life is ruined, his life is ruined. I'm genuinely sorry for everyone involved. If there's one thing to be learned it's that footballers (and the women attracted to them) seem to indulge in some pretty outrageous behaviour that shouldn't be encouraged or accepted. Sad. Vin
In fairness, most of the discussion on here was after he'd been found guilty. Mind you I always felt it was a fairly shaky conviction. Ignoring the stuff about his or her character, the only evidence to condemn him came from a woman who was claiming she was too drunk to consent to sex, which to me put a huge question mark against her reliability as a witness. The general reaction after he came out of prison seemed over the top as well. I'm fairly torn on them as people though. While both their lives have been devastated by this and neither deserves the prison time/abuse they've had to deal with, neither of them seems particularly likable either. He's a typical, cocky, entitled footballer who at best was cheating on his fiance in a pretty sordid way while I've seen some pretty unpleasant things about her too so I find it hard to feel that sorry for them.
I agree, although the sorry incident told me something about the type of person he is. He's a lucky man that his partner has stood by him. Hopefully he'll show her some proper respect now and keep it in his trousers.
True, but if every man (or woman) who cheated on their partner was locked up and vilified as a sex offender, there would be an awful lot of law-abiding people losing careers, liberty and reputation. A bit harsh for a legal, if frowned upon, activity. Anyone remember the Steve Moran/ Mark Wright debacle in '82?
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-sightings-craze-europe-violent-a7361251.html Someone has been stabbed by a clown in Sweden. At a time when everyone is twitchy about terrorism, this craze of frightening people is plain daft. Someone will get seriously hurt at some point. And what is to stop a malevolent person from hiding behind a mask. I can honestly say that if anyone in a frightening mask leapt out at me....especially if I was driving...would be in real danger of being hurt as I sped off. Not deliberately, but a natural reaction when fearful.
As I said at the time the result of this re-trial has not changed my opinions of the footballer, his partner and the girl. Like, I suspect, his girlfriend I would not trust anything the man said or says in the future. Good luck with that relationship, at least she knows next time he's having sex with a comatose girl he's thinking of her.
I know/hope you don't think I am saying that. My post brings into question his persona, not his punishment for being a disloyal man. I made no comment on his punishment for cheating.
Ah yes my mother actually sounds like her when she tries to sing....I remember the cat once was so scared of mums singing he ran out as fast as he could and didn't come back until after dark
Djokovic has just lost his Shanghai Masters semi-final to the world number 15. Andy's up next against Giles Simon.
