I got a bit lucky with Jones. Man City signed him, only for Mancini to get sacked. The new guy obviously didn't fancy him so transfer listed him - and I swooped in, and picked him up for about 3 million. I can't overestimate just how good Henderson is for me these days. Two seasons in a row now he's got me around 20 goals from midfield.
Technically, legally and ethically are different things. I know I'd be annoyed with it. 3 million? That's a quality deal, I assume he's an England regular? Henderson getting 20 a season is very appealing, he's at Fulham on mine so I might have to take a look at him.
No, he hardly ever appears in the England squad - likewise Cahill. Smalling has become a world class CB for United, so it's usually him and Terry (despite the fact that Terry is ancient now, hardly plays for Chelsea, and his pace is something like 5!).
Looks like these would be 2 great signings can't see it happening though in light of others leaving. Isn't Danny Fox a left back ?
Smalling and Jones are first choice for me, poor management to keep Terry in!! Figured I might as well show off a result I just got on FM - Nathan Delfouneso making his debut, and played a 17 year old in Wayne Saunders as well - please log in to view this image
isnt it funny how the general consenus seems to be that smalling is a great player, yet some saints fans say aaron martin wont be good enough in the prem for us even though aaron captained the england schoolboys team in which smalling was his CB partner?
martin is good enough for prem, he will develop into a top class player - give him time, he's only just come out of non-league
Left-back. But he's quite attacking, so can play left midfield. He was excellent a while back for Coventry, but his career seems to have stalled since going to Celtic (and now Burnley).
do we really need a LB though? With Harding 1st choice, and Dickson and Reeves back up, I feel we're more than covered for that position
Well my views on Harding are very well known, so I wont give a direct answer to that haha! I will say though that everyone could be improved. Just because a certain position might not need strengthening, doesn't mean that it can't be improved and taken to the next level.
Don't think he is good enough for the prem? As you have said just come out of non league ? 4th choice last season in league 1 side & will be 5th this season when new CB in. Curious where you are coming from, How does that make him good enough for the premiership ?
If a player becomes available at the right price and is potential 1st team then it is surely worth bidding no matter how strong we might be in that position. Harding and Dickson split opinion of the fans and Adkins as neither cemented themselves as 1st choice. Dickson is unproven at this level and Harding was unremarkable. Both players deserve a chance for their performances last season, but I just think when we all analysis the squad in January that the full back positions will be a top area to strengthen.
A point of interest - Southampton's promotion odds have been cut, according to skybet we're 4th favourites for promotion, do the bookies know something we don't?
When I looked during the week, and Skybet had us as joint 5th favourites, I'm sure our odds were still 14/1. So I think it's more that other sides have fallen back, rather than we've been pushed up.
As St Godders posted Friday night and after the win for Leicester earlier we have now climbed up two spaces already. Decent start to the campaign
We may climb a few places before we kick off with all losing teams dropping below us. I know the early tables are meaningless, but I never want us to be at the bottom.
And right now at HT, look who's bottom. Hehehe http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/14351913.stm
