    Dylan writes poems.

If you're traveling the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
For she once was a true love of mine.

If you go when the snowflakes storm
When the rivers freeze and summer ends
Please see if she has a coat so warm
To keep her from the howlin' winds.

Please see if her hair hangs long
If it rolls and flows all down her breast
Please see for me if her hair's hanging long
For that's the way I remember her best.

I'm a-wonderin' if she remembers me at all
    Many times I've often prayed
In the darkness of my night
In the brightness of my day.

So if you're travelin' the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was the true love of mine.

Now, what tune of a song does the first verse bring to mind?

    My favourite seaside resort.

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
    I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You’d know what a drag it is
    To see you.

Everything I've ever seen about 'Madhouse' states that the BBC did NOT keep the one tape copy.

Didn't he also play a few 'gigs' - where he met Martin Carthy (and I think - Paul Simon)? That's when he heard Scarborough Fair.

I heard a mention that they should hurry up and honour Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen (i.e. before they shuffle off).

There are some scratch copies and cleaned up audio snippets but that is it. No tape,as you say.

He sang Blowin' In The Wind on that programme months before it was recorded. The other three songs he sang were never recorded apparently.

If only you had known you were watching the start of something big at the time.

Was it Lennon who said if he had known how big they would become he would have taken more notice of what was happening?

Talking of missing things, .I went to a Shotgun Express gig when I was about 16 and missed seeing my future all time favourite guitarist, Peter Green due to being in the bar all night. Did see Rod Stewart who was also in that band with Steampacket, where contrary to his reputation as a skinflint he bought a group of us a vodka, whilst informing all and sundry not to bend over in front of Long John Baldry (it had never previously occurred to any of us that the 6'7" Baldry was inclined that way)!before leaving with a large grin on his face and a fit looking female on both arms.Happy days. Oh, to be young again...

He (Rod S) is still doing it, he doesn't need to be young!

He looked a bit ropey at Buck Palace. His legs seemed to have a mind of their own and seemed bent at odd angles. Must admit his lass looks a lot fitter than mine though. He is her favourite singer. Would do a swap for Penny for a weekend.
