Back to Tv - watched the whole series of Deutschland 83 a fortnight ago over the weekend. Outstanding. How close we actually did come, btw, to nuclear meltdown over operation Able Archer.

No they're not all racists. There's about half a dozen subplots and it actually highlights people's prejudices rather than outright racism for most. The film has far more depth to it than you're making out. For example the way the opening murder and end scene has nothing to do with racism. The victim and his brother's relationship is nowt to do with either being racist. Even the issue with the Iranian chap is less to do with racism and more to do with cultural clash as Sky has said.

Basically you're an arse. And a welsh one at that. <whistle>

Yeah, I gave it 6.5. Cranston was sound, and the scene with the witch-doctor was eeirie, but it just wasn't as good as some of the hype, imo. Thought it would be a cross between Breaking Bad and Narcos, but it wasn't. Worth watching though.

Didn't really like it that much. Maybe cause i was on a plane. I understand the animals are meant to be a metaphor or could be taken as such. Just didn't feel like i enjoyed it

I was the same way. Felt the film was more about eye candy than substance.

One of my all-time favourites. The cinematography is stunning, but it's a deeply spiritual film, like an abstract piece of art in terms of what you get out of it. Ang Lee is a clever bastard, everyone gets some different meaning from events/characters in the film.
