The 'real' cost of Brexit is starting to permeate every day life ... the stand off between Tesco and Unilever being reported today will become more and more common and is not good news for consumers.

The weakening pound has caused Unilever to hike wholesale prices which Tesco is refusing to pay as it doesn't want to pass on the additional costs to it's customers... Unilever products are therefore disappearing from Tesco shelves.

Pete will soon be paying a lot more for his Pot Noodles and Ben & Jerry's however the impasse between those corporate giants is finally resolved ... Karma?

Many have been absorbing the 16% as retailers such as Tesco wouldn't accept the unit price increase. Them telling Tesco to **** off is the start of that being passed onto consumers - result = inflation

A large chunk of Unilever products are produced in this country for UK market and using UK based materials. There is more to this than a manufacturer passing on costs and some of it is to offset the loss of profits when the companies income earned in pounds is converted to dollars.

 

I just wish he'd **** off and peddle his idiotic views elsewhere...

But what it highlights is that price increases are affected by more than just the increased costs of imports. Foreign companies that manufacture goods in this country and largely for the UK market will be looking to hit profit targets that are not priced in GBP.

 

Either way, the collapse of Sterling, brought on by this Brexit insanity, is responsible.

 

When the thick ****s realise their weekly shop has increased by 10%+ they'll blame the Muslims

 

It's when the Super Noodles go up in price too that people will take to the streets.
