    The wisdom of Ken Clarke

Ken Clarke has written to constituents who have contacted him with concerns about Britain’s vote to leave the European Union to reassure them: “The referendum is not binding.”
    https://www.theguardian.com/politic...-constituent-brexit-eu-referendum-not-binding

According to the former Chancellor, “nobody in the government has the first idea of what they’re going to do next”.

It smelled of your usual bullshit. For someone you reckon is boring, it's revealing to see how often you post to me.
Why not try just getting on with your own posts? Your childish abuse and comments is proven to be not driving me away like you seem to have done with so many others.

As usual you tell lies. The thread wasn't started by you or any other mod, a poster started it and asked for permission to do so in his OP, making no reference to this one.

    http://www.not606.com/threads/brexit.331480/

    You closed it and took a swipe at the PL thread in the same breath;

For anyone wanting to carry on the debate, there is a thread still open on the Premier League board.
It's not as good as this one, and is more dominated by upset remain voters.

    He won't see it!

It would be quite interesting to view this thread through Pete's bloodshot eyes.

The only smell of bullshit Is from the numerous layers of it you've spread across this debate with your constant diversionary bollocks and general nonsensical assertations.

I've wasted enough of my time on you. You've been made more than aware of what people think of you here, yet still it doesn't penetrate that bone head of yours.

Yes, you irritate me because you're such a fool, yet you think you're so clever.

Maybe you get away with your pseudo intellectual bollocks on your own board, I've no idea. Unfortunately, for you, there's several people here with more than the tenth of a brain you possess, who can see through you like flimsy tissue paper.

Nobody does not have to be literal. Nobody knew where she went for example is obviously wrong because she knew where she went. It can apply to a specific group, which in this case was the UK government.
I said that the EU negotiators will have considered all possibilities.
Your car purchase analogy is utterly ridiculous. I would, of course, have decided on a maximum price that I was willing to pay, just as anyone would at an auction.
I may not know the the outcome of future negotiations but I have reasonable assumptions for all possibilities.

would you have tried to buy the car for less than your maximum price?

You really are a dense ****er Pete.

Before we get to a 'price' at the table, we'll need to have an aim for the negotiation. The issue currently is, that the aim hasn't been agreed by Parliament and May has unilaterally set the specific 'no go' areas, which she's based on **** all but a 'leave / stay' vote by the populous. She has zero mandate to set those parameters.

Parliament must therefore agree what the priorities are, and then it's up to the negotiation team to endeavour to get the best deal possible.

... would you have bought the extra large pie even though it would smash your recommended daily calorie intake?

.. stupid question in hindsight <whistle>

The problem at the moment is that we don't seem to be able to agree on what the maximum price might be, to use your analogy.
Every day, a bloody different message seems to filter out. No wonder the markets react in the way they do. Perhaps Mays first job might be to get her gang to deliver a consistent message.

    Taking Pete's 'secret' negotiation tactics....

Pete walks into Greggs with Ula.

    Can I help you Sir?

Errrm I'm not entirely sure what I'm after, my purchase outcome will depend on our negotiation.

Ok, but you've been coming here since 1972 Pete, and I know you always go for a large pie and a custard slice.

In that case I will be after the large pie and custard slice, I'll give you one British pound and not a penny more, and be grateful.

Pete, you'll pay £2.75 same as the Norwegian fella who's just left paid, or you'll leave with nothing.

My colleague Ula and I will confer.

Ula we can't leave without the pie, as otherwise we'll have to go to M&S and it'll be £3.50 for the same damn thing.

    Offer her £2 fat lad

How about 2 English pounds for your wares?

Get out of my shop Pete I've got 27 other customers waiting to be served.

    Here's your £2.75 then ffs.

The whole analogy is rubbish. What's being agreed is whether we are trying to buy a BMW or a Fiat and whether it's got 2 or 4 doors.

The price and optional extras is what will be negotiated with the salesman.
