They don't take a wage for England games - match fees go to charidee (the EFF), it has done since 07/08 ish.
It will, there's a blueprint and plan in place. They are only part way into the plan. The U21s are starting to show what the plan is all about.
1 who would really want to be England manager after seeing tonights game ? 2 Why not play lower division players, they could do no worse, would be less well known to other teams, and have something to prove ?
The kids do well, never get picked up by the big teams & drift along, if any ever do make it up, then England just change their way of playing at the top level. No one can say why? It's probably at the kids level there's not as much pressure on the players or manager. Because the FA still wants England to qualify for the tournaments! Despite the kids hitting teams for 4,5,6, in reality at the top they'd be the equivalent of Malta!
But we don't do any good, so other than money whats the point, no national pride in watching a team of disinterested losers. We managed 2 goals against Malta, population about the size of Hull, 70 m in uk and that's the best we can do, would champ, div 1 and 2 have done any worse ?
I swore after watching the Euros debacle I'd never again waste my time in the future watching a bunch of disinterested overpaid losers who claim to represent England. By mistake I turned on the channel here which was showing the game just as the second half started. This was even worse than the Iceland game...sidewards, backwards, all in slow motion...nobody making forward runs. I could have been watching Hull City under Bruce ffs!!! This was a truly pathetic performance. Why was Lingard even in the squad...never mind playing the full game. Same goes for Cahill who has been a disaster in the EPL this year. If not for Hart we could have lost by 2-3 goals. Apart from him the whole squad should be ashamed of themselves. We need a new manager and a whole new group of players who are proud to represent England...like Rooney. Henderson captain??? Give me a break...that back pass was unbelievable. Drop him!!
They do have a blueprint for style and emphasis of play. The system and methods of coaching have been reviewed from grass roots up. The process is only 3 years in to the 10 year plan - so as with everything it requires patience. People won't start to see the emphasis of change until the players that have been coached using the new blueprint start to take effect on the first team. Don't judge now, judge in 7-8 years time when the plan has run a full cycle.
If you were picking the team purely on current league form, then you'd end up with the team we had last night (with the possible exception of Lingard and Dier). The claim that the players don't care is bollocks, they just seem unable to replicate their league performances in international games, it's not because they can't be arsed.
I have never got the whole "They don't care about playing for England", there is never any evidence of that they just get told to keep hold of the ball. I felt like our players didn't have an independent idea until Townsend came on and thought well why don't I just run with it? We seem to play safe and refuse to run past a man or play one touch football. Any good moves we had last night either came from someone trying to beat a man or play one touch football and we only did that for ten minutes. The rest of the match it looked like we had two separate teams, the defence and attack where completely separate units.
Play like they did last night for their club sides and they'd get dropped, continue to play like that for their club side and they'd get shipped out. Other than pride, because, compared to their usual club payments, there's certainly scant financial reward, they really don't need to succeed on the international stage for it make enough of a difference to their personal wealth. Many of the players have had a pampered upbringing, either coming through their club side or being purchased by them for millions and given a contract that many could immediately retire on, their loyalty and financial future lays firmly with that club side. For me there's little pride and/or passion shown, because in the back of their minds they know that they don't need to, very rarely do you see an England player putting in a blood & guts performance for the national side.
Since when did size of population determine these things? And what has the population of the UK to do with it? Can we pick Gareth Bale? Could we have picked George Best or Denis Law in the past?
It must have been a word you've used before. Your spell checker has a memory. Guess you've been discussing the latest Gansta rap tunes with your homies again.
Why hasn't it done it before when I have used the word? I am using the Google keyboard for iPad. Seems it is even worse than the other keyboard. For the record, I would never listen to Gansta rap, or any other rap let alone discuss it with anyone. Except, possibly, this one-
