So when everyone was slating Rooney for scoring his 50+ goals, some of which were in 3rd rate qualifiers, it seems the rest of the England players can't even manage that!! <laugh>

I will keep on repeating myself until im blue in the face that all the home nations have players not good enough and the simple reason is that the premiership is crammed with foreign players which stops a lot of British players getting the chances they should be getting in the premiership and playing, They are getting held back...I can only name Bale of Wales who could get into any of the top sides and probably only on the bench......We need to change the way we allow foreign players gaining the experience our Brits are missing out on playing top class football in a British league......There should be a limit on clubs who play far too many foreign players in a match.......No more than 4 foreigners to take to the pitch at any one time that will force clubs to bring through British players that are not getting a fair chance.... 1966 is a long time not to win anything...

Naive. The reason our players are **** is not because of the more able and technical foreign players around them <laugh>. It's because THEY are technically limited as footballers in a game which has evolved over the past 50 years and our approach to the game is still in the dark ages. Get rid of the foreign players and we'll simply have 10x as many "kick and rush" or "long-ball" English merchants on the pitch. We breed a certain type of footballer. Short term mentality because it's a conveyor belt that needs to fund the lower leagues.

Oh and the Prem will turn to pants as the quality of **** on offer will show our players up for the inferior footballers they are.

It was a good mini series IMHO although I very rarely watch stuff like that. I like Robbie Coltrane so watched the first episode and saw it out.

    I remember Tutti Frutti!

Well Germany and Spain have proved you wrong there my old mucka....They both restricted their clubs on the amount their clubs could field foreign players at any one time and Spain went on to win the Euros and WC and Germany have improved and won trophies including the WC......When was the last trophy won by England again prey tell....50 years ago......:emoticon-0178-rock:

Yep but you've missed the crux of my argument. Our players are **** because they're developed that way. That won't change by simply removing the foreign technically, more able players around them. That's like saying if I remove the Pleasure Beach at Blackpool, it will turn into tropical Barbados!

Our footballers are technically limited because the game at the lower league level is not interested in developing a passing game or players who can ghost past other players. They want immediate results so want to build brick ****houses who can get it up field as quickly as possible while some other lump gets on the end of it. Then they can buy in cheap foreigners to fill in the technical gap. The youth players at the top clubs either make it, or are not good enough or are simply managed badly, but even they are few and far between.

Having said that, the England team that played today were more than capable of beating Slovenia. None of the above applies to our drawing against Slovenia, it's just another England manager who doesn't know how to get the best out of his players.

you have missed the crux not me. The reason our players are redeemed crap in your words is because they never get the chance to show what they can do in the first team because its full of over paid over valued foreign players mostly brought over by foreign managers.....These British players are playing in the reserve teams in front of one man and his dog and i bet some of those players have more skill than these foreign players but cant use it in third rate games and ignored....Spain and Germany recognised the problem but our lot dont give a **** just as long as we have a good premier league .....and a laughing stock of an international side.... It's not always the managers fault if he dont have players up to the standard. If the manager is not good enough then we have had a hell of a bad luck in choosing bad managers since 1966 <laugh>

... there are merits in both arguments... but lets not forget, Jordan Henderson has benefited immensely from being able to train with those world class foreigners .. as the future England captain elect amply demonstrated against that footballing juggernaut, Slovenia, last night ... :) ... bossed it ... :)

He was talking about development. That starts from 5yr olds all the way up to first team professional football.

I can assure you five year old's aren't told to lump it forward to the big man. (at least not by this FAW accredited kids coach!!)

Otherwise, yes that is the point. It's once the FA and our clubs get hold of the kids it all goes to ****. Having foreign players in our league does not make a **** England team. ****e coaches do.

    ... nah ... I loved it ... set up a very funny evening ... albeit inadvertently <laugh>

Liverpool's former director of football strategy Damien Comolli helped sign midfielder Jordan Henderson, 26, for the Merseysiders but says that on the day he was sacked, the club's owners told him he "had made a big mistake on Jordan and he was a waste of money". (Talksport)

Am with Treble on this one.
It's definitely in the development, and nothing to do with foreign players.
If a player is good enough, he will make the cut in the PL, regardless of his nationality.
No manager has ever seen a **** hot British player who is a genius on the ball and thought "Nah, he's British, he needs to be foreign, dump him!"
The reason so many foreign players get a chance to shine in the PL is because the English players are ****e technically.
If we dumped all the foreign players we would just get a ****e PL, thats all that would accomplish.
Thankfully for England fans, there has been a grass roots level change in training and development that only started 5-6 years ago, people HAVE learnt and paid attention, problem is, it will take time for those kids to grow up and be professional footballers, the first crop would still only be like 11 or 12 years old.
So by the time they are old enough to play for you, you should see Englands talent improving.

Really do not see how banning foreign players will help your national side at all, it will just ensure that the PL turns to ****, our coefficient drops, we lose our 4th Champions League place and we do not see an English CL winner for the next 10-15 years at least.

    England Player ratings V Slovenia

Jo Hart - exceptional goalkeeping display - one incredible save - no Hart, no point ~ 10
Danny Rose - made some excellent runs but decision making when in good positions very poor ~ 6
Gary Cahill - one very good crossfield pass in an otherwise pretty abject display ~ 5
John Stones - a couple of shaky moments in an unconvincing defensive display but uses the ball well when in possession ~ 6
Kyle Walker - great pace - poor end product ~ 5
    Eric Dier - was ~3
Jordan Henderson - no question he put a shift in - unfortunately seems to have been in front of the mirror before taking to the field ~ 4
Jesse Lingard - didn't do too badly all things considered ~ 6
Dele Alli - England's biggest threat on the night - put in a good shift ~ 7
    Theo Walcott - mostly anonymous ~ 5
Daniel Sturridge - another non-desript display - poor decision making too often - Slovenia forards looked like they covered twice as much ground ~ 5

    Subs:

Wayne Rooney - Came on, retreived armband from Captain Groom-a-lot, curled shot wide - 5
Andros Townsend - fair cameo - troubled Slovenia far more than Walcot had - 6
Marcus Rashford - not really on long enough for a rating but is certainly a breath of fresh air
