Ha ha Ha. I tell you one thing mate. You need to lighten up a little and realise when someone is pulling your leg. Several people on here have (including me) said that you have a very good side. I think Howson and Snodgrass are quality, but several Leeds fans on here have come across as blinkered about them being the best in the league. I don't really know because I only see Saints. I see other teams a maximum of twice a year live and then occassionally on the box. I couldn't possibly comment about all the players in our league. To say what you say is through Leeds coloured glasses. They may well be the best, but you dson't really know that. You have admirable faith and belief in your best players... good on you. How many times have you seen Lallana play? Chamberlain play? The lad Mcgugan (?) at Forest play and many. many other quality players. Saints fans may have some blind faith after, like Leeds, we have had some very low times recently, but generally we are not arrogant. Blind and stupid sometimes, yes, but not arrogant. Be realistic and don't let some leg pulling and banter online sway your opinion. I sing "we're by far the greatest team......" but I think we might get beat by Barca!
Oh, and good luck tomorrow, but not too much as I have booked appointments in Leeds on Monday so I can carry on the banter!
How often have you seen Fonte, Lallana and Chamberlain? As I've said all along on this thread, I think Howson and Snodgrass (and Gradel) are cracking midfielders. I've even said that I'd do anything to have Howson in our team. But I really don't like it when fans completely dismiss opposition players as weaker, if they haven't seen those opposition players on a regular basis. The odd clip on the Football League show last season is hardly evidence to make a judgement on our players. (PS. Nolan and Parker are both better players)
I think they're Brighton fans in disguise. Remember how last year we all tried to be nice and praised their players and wished them luck and they all got the huff (including their manager) because we dared to praise our own team.
You probably do have some really good midfielders. However, our guys took a few games to adjust (not too many mind) at the beginning of last season but came on leaps and bounds. We will attack you today as that is in our nature and your defence will be busy. That's not to say ours won't be. I predict an open game but at this stage I think we'll have the better of the midfield. And Parker and Nolan may be better but they certainly won't be getting any better whereas our midfielders and probably yours can still get better. Parker will be gone by the end of August anyway. I also remember when Bellamy joined joined the bottlers last season and although he was off to a flyer he soon blended in to our level and didn't really tear it up like I expected him to.
Elland-heaven. Hallelujah! A reasoned argument. I predict a good game between 2 teams..one with experience and one with home advantage. It will be good to see Saints tested against a team that will try to play and not park the bus. It is only the first game and will not really tell either team how the whole season will pan out. I naturally predict a Saints win because I am a Saints fan not because I am arrogant.
You think that, you don't know that. And Nolan proven when he was down here a couple of years ago that he's head and shoulders above everyone else. Totally agree about your guys are in a better position to improve in the future, but the ket word there is future. Right now, Noland and Parker are ahead of them. If Arsenal are right, Chamberlain will become a world class winger in the future. But thanks for at least accepting that our attack could cause you some problems.
Come on Buddy........I have been keeping a close eye on these threads........the only possible reason you think the Saints fans are arrogant, is that you will not accept that Saints will not except, that you have this most fantastic team. They are arrogant because they believe in their team........What nonsense! Saints are no more arrogant than any of the top flight teams fans in this league. There is probably about 8/10 quality teams in this league + probably 8/10 average teams. I would say that Leeds border between the two, the rest are unknowns. We sadly come in that last category as do all the other newly promoted teams. Nothing we can do about that. However we too have quality in the side albeit some untried at this level. All the experts predict a good season for us. The experts say they expect us to turn you over today. Now whether we do or don't, for what ever reason, the experts think we too have quality to rival and beat yours. So why should we roll over and agree your team is better than ours! We believe it is not and the experts agree with us.........Non of which is arrogance, just passion for my club..............
Absolutely agree Beddytare. This whole thread has been remakably civilized considering the passions involved. Great set-up at St.marys, decent manager,no artificial injection of cash, proper football club. Good luck for this season(after today).
I still think Snoddy's better . As I've said I think Snoddy has the technical ability to play CL football, Nolan never has and Parker will be off before the end of the transfer window. Of course it's harder to judge Snoddy against the players who weren't in the division last year, but he was head and shoulders above everyone else on his day last season, his form was only hampered by a bad injury at the beginning and then exhaustion at the end.
Simion, Simon, Simon I/we aren't saying our players are better than yours, we're saying that you lot are being blinkered in the "he's the best in the league" approach. You can't possibly know that as you haven't seen all the others play enough! And if he was, where is the big offer for him..... and don't go telling me Norwich wanted him, or I'll laugh. Do you want Fergie or Wengers mobile number?
Okay maybe i do need to lighten up... had just woken up when i put that comment on which doesnt help. And yes it is through leeds coloured blinkers and i am one of the few leeds fans that are actually quite optimistic of the season ahead. I have actually seen Cork play a few times and am a little bit happy we didnt sign him. I have also seen chamberlain play a couple times last season, Maybe he had off days but i dont see it in him... And to be fair you must admit their has been arrogance from both sides in fairness on this thread maybe i am a culprit.
yea i realise that nolan and parker are better players... I forget at times that west ham are in this league but in truth who are more likely to be playing for their countries in the future... They are up and coming players both of them and snodgrass for one is definitley causing prem teams to turn their head and have a look at him, we value him at 8mil and i reckon i would be dissapointed to see him go for that little and howson i reckon we would value around 10mil
