I've never seen lost in translation so can't judge. Until reading this thread today I've only seen in mentioned when people are mocking bad movies.
It's subjective really. For Saint, Garlic and RHC it's anything in color. For the rest of us it's post millennium. Momento is a great modern film.
I will watch it eventually but need to run out of other things to watch first. With the amount time I get to watch things, that's not going to happen any time soon!
I did but not on my list because I personally like them. Certain Bond films are a distinct reflection of their era...skyfall is Craig's. Inside out is going to be a kids classic...it's just smart...
I prefer Craig's last two Bonds to his first two Bonds. Casino Royale and Quantum Solace were generic action spy flicks. Bond wasnt Bond, he was just a generic spy who happened to share James Bonds name. Skyfall and spectre, despite their problems, were Bond. They got the timbre right.
Crikey, it was about seven years ago that I watched all five seasons of the Wire in two weeks whilst off 'sick'. Omar was ace. Apollo 13 was one of my favourites of recent times, but I'm hopelessly biased on the subject. The first Alien was tremendous thriller stuff, whilst Aliens was unparalleled as an adventure movie, Still think Borat was the best comedy in the last decade.
They even teach The Wire in universities these days (including Harvard) and there are many a thesis related to it. It is that good.
Modern classics for me City of god The Imitation game 2012 The dark Knight Transcendence The Kings speech Limitless The hangover The matrix The other guys White chicks Off the top of me head
