    Finally someone else talking sense.

We keep playing like that we'll be there or there abouts at the end of the season.

My thoughts on the game (critical despite creating enough chances to win easily):

Gulacsi - gave me kittens. I hope the flapping was just nerves and his ability to intercept crosses / decision making improves. Nothing he could do about the goal. He did gesture at the full backs to come short at one point in the second half so not sure all the distribution issues are his. Not confident in him, hope he improves.

Rosenior - Started well. Faded a bit after he took a whack and looked miffed when he gave a corner away late on. Not sure who he wasn't happy with but obviously communication at the back needs working on.

Hobbs - The defence in general didn't do a lot wrong. Unfortunately for him, two of the biggest slips at the back were his - one where he beautifully picked out a Blackpool striker 20 yards out and the other where he slipped and needed Brady to get him out of jail. Most of the back 4 were guilty at times of trying to play it out of dangerous situations when a hoof would have been the better option. Surprised he was made captain. Possibly impacted on his performance.

Chester - Didn't really notice a lot of him, which is probably the mark of a good defender. Honestly didn't see why many wax lyrical about him, as I didn't really notice him. Perhaps the Sky commentators were better than the Czech guy who liked saying "Tom Car-Knee".

Dudgeon - A bit rash for his yellow. Struggled at times to get forward. Seemed to be moving inside with Phillips (I think) for the goal. No idea who should have been picking up Taylor-Fletcher but based on the position of the strike I should have thought it would have been Dudgeon.

Brady - Struggled in the first half. A bit impetuous, wanting to do it all on his own when there were better options (trying too hard to impress with the cameras there?). Thought Baptiste (IMO MotM) had him wrapped up down the left in the first half but he got much more joy when he and Koren switched flanks. I think it is no coincidence that Koren was much more involved in the first half when he was playing down the right. Will be a good player IMO but he has a touch of the "Taarabt - I don't need my 10 team-mates" about him. Good tenacity and, despite his shortcomings, our MotM.

Koren - other than being fouled a couple of times and having a tame shot saved, did little of note. Bit headless chicken but then so was most of our outnumbered midfield.

McKenna and Cairney - The game mostly passed them by. When McKenna charged into one of their players after he clipped the heel of one of ours I thought "the new Ash is here!" That thought was short-lived and he didn't provide as much steel as I had hoped. I'm in the camp of those that think Cairney plays a few nice touches but needs to get a foot in a bit more. When he did that, he pretty much scissor-kicked one of their players off the pitch. Good free-kick but it hit the outside of the post and (if I remember correctly) Gilks had it covered.

Fryatt - Missed two 1-on-1s (well technically Baptiste got back well for one - but he should have pulled the trigger a touch earlier on both chances). Hopefully it was early season cobwebs but some worrying signs.

Adebola - Brought it down well but couldn't do anything with it at his feet. Reminded me of Oli (turning circle of an oil tanker). I thought his injury was a bit like Mannone's last season in that his body language suggested to me that he just didn't fancy it in the second half.

Barmby - Didn't show a lot. Disappointed that we kept launching it. Don't think we won a single one in the second half.

Simpson - Thought his first shot was a good effort to make the space, second should have been around the keeper.

Overall - We created plenty of chances - far more than most of last season. On a good day we would have won at a canter so there are plenty of positives to take forward. Most worried about Gulacsi as he inspired little confidence. Impressed by Phillips - thought he would be well past it now. So 24th...onwards and upwards.

    Thought I would add:

It did look a bit men vs boys out there at times towards the end of the first half.

City 'Ulltras? - plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Hmm, avatar hasn't updated. How long before these things usually kick in?

Hull fans believe me here about Adebola. Though he isnt the best player, what you will get from fryatt from playing next to a big targetman is a huge HUGE improvement. Steve howard isnt the greatest striker in the world, but was one of the first names on our teamsheet due to how well fryatt played off him. the improvement from fryatt is more than the incompetencies of Adebola and pearson will know this. I only listenned to the game, and what i gathered is this caused fryatt to get a lot of chances, just a shame he was in one of his unfinishable moods.

and about the Hobbs captaincy- dont be suprsied. When oakley was injured/lie for being dropped 2 years ago he captained us a lot, despite his young age. He is a leader and thrives nunder the armband.

Agree totally! Was very disappointed by reading all the comments yesterday after the match, especially about Hobbs after one average game, seems like City fans just give up too easily sometimes, there was a lot of promise in the team yesterday and we were unlucky.

Enjoying the positive thread, guys. I do not think Adebola should be a starter owing to fitness, but as a last 20/30min option I think he will be very handy. Most balls to his feet seemed to go to on to a city shirt in the first half, people seemed ready to criticise regardless of performance. Cairney and McKenna spent the whole time playing against their 3 man midfield, always tough. Added to that Blackpool, owing to their all out attack styl,e pushed forward more than most teams we will see at the KC this season and even then they created hardly anything against our defence. Not given up on this season yet.

hmmm, wouldn't have said we were the better team, we were better for the first 10 and the last 10, most of the rest of the match it was evenish, with spells where Blackpool were on top. That said, yes we created some good chances which we should have scored from which was bloody frustrating.

The one thing that REALLY frustrated me, esp first half, was how unsuccessful we were with the direct long ball, Adebola hardly won a flick on in the first half, and then with Barmby and Frytt up front we still persisted with this bemusing tactic...If you look at Blackpool the long balls they played were drected towards our full backs and they had a lot of success in winning those headers
