    http://soccerlens.com/how-much-have-the-epls-promoted-teams-have-spent-so-far/77263/

Really interesting article here. It shows how much the teams promoted in the last two years have spent, and the way they've gone about it.

Interesting to see we've spent about the same as Norwich this year. Did people expect us to behave differently in the transfer market? What does everyone make of QPR's reluctance to splash any cash this year despite gaining automatic promotion?

Money doesn't always buy success , the football league is full of casualties of reckless spending, I honestly think that there is no need to spend hugely to stay up in the premier league.

We can't compete with the top half of the table clubs, they have had decades of top flight football and the money that comes with it, doesn't mean we can't take points off them though

Do you seriously think that we should throw caution to the wind ? Isn't that exactly what hull did ? They were in a healthy position going up with little or no debts, look at them now!

I would prefer to be relegated than be stupidly reckless

I am with jager on this one. Spending big gaurentees nothing. All te players who have been successful with us in recent years have cost us next to nothing. there are an awful lot of players out there desperate to prove them selves who wont brake the bank.

musty names the three above. Werent they in a team that finished bottom last year. so what makes them better than what we have. Mr upson is still a free agent. No one has jumped in to get him on board.

I feel our board are doing it right. spend what is required but not silly money.

Problem is for us Canaries is - We do not know is, are the players are going to be good enough to ensure survival. Many people are more than happy to state we are simply not good enough because we have no PL experience, mostly the same as Swans. Personally I think such statements are valid but only up to a point.

Just because a player or group have never played at the top level does not mean they are not good enough or that they can not up their game.
The managers will also play a vital part in our fortunes. Norwich & Swans have shrewd young managers, out to prove themselves. We know all about Paul Lambert and just how good a motivator and tactician he has been for the last two season but can he do it again? Most City fans think he can but we do not really know.
QPR have an old war horse for a manager, certainly proven in the Championship but did not shine in the PL with Sheff Utd, although they did have 2 good cup runs. They have got some decent signings despite not 'splashing the cash' and I think they could do surprisingly well but a lot will still hinge on the temperament of one or two of their 'key' players.

It's going to be interesting to see exactly how things develop in the coming months. It is possible all 3 promoted sides can survive at the expense of perhaps Blackburn, Wigan, Wolves and perhaps one or two others but unlikely. The only unanswered question is which of the 3 will go back down? Not going to know until about December (bottom team on Boxing Day nearly always goes down)

...and this is why you are not in control of a football club, and thank christ for that! We might not HAVE a club next year if we did that!
