It doesn't matter which country you're from, if you throw litter in the street you're an ignorant, uncouth, scumbag ........ or a **** as we say in Lincolnshire. My parents taught me to put rubbish in a bin, or take it home, I taught my kids the same and it's nice to see them doing the same with my g'kids. It's not hard is it?
No im saying that we should do it here. Not sure why youre being defensive i don't want to see our city a mess maybe you arent as bothered.
Was in Sicily tuther week, some parts were terrible. The norm was for household rubbish to be dumped in the road. The practice appeared to encourage litter dropping. It was everywhere, in places.
Apologies, then. It just sounded like you were falling into the same old trap of whinging about Hull.
If we'd got ourselves hung up on the litter, stray dogs, feral cats & street rubbish we may well have missed all the excellent & wonderful cultural experiences that were on offer. People dropping litter's not good anywhere, although as a regular visitor to Hull I can't say I've ever noticed it as a problem. Coltman Street sometimes has some dog turds on offer but I'm guessing that won't be a regular stop off for your average CofC visitor. If it is an issue in Hull, I don't think it's any worse than most other cities around the UK & it's certainly not as bad as many European cities I've visited. The City of Hull is on the up, Most will embrace & appreciate the efforts made, unfortunately a few will always try & fight it, usually by ignoring the improvements and highlighting & exaggerating minor issues whilst continually criticising the efforts made by others to enhance the Hull experience for both visitors & locals alike yet doing nothing themselves.
Councillor Mike Ross in this mornings HDM has said that street littering is becoming a major problem.
Was in Liverpool a couple of days ago and they were ripping up paving and replacing it with similar to what is going down in Hull ( although thinner and inferior from what I could see) all the replaced bits looked covered in chewy already, although there was a bloke with a sort of long handled wallpaper scraper clearing it up
Last time we had a day out in Liverpool there was human* **** in a shop doorway next to all the takeaway litter from the night before. Of course we may both have visited the day after a coach trip from Hull had also visited. *The positioning & size of the **** is my only evidence that it was human.
Littering in Japan is about as socially unacceptable as rape. I dropped a tab end once, the whole street stopped and stared at me like I'd dropped my kegs, so I picked it up and took it to bin. The place is spotless, absolutely everywhere.
Obviously the discarding if the cigarette butt was something he learnt whilst in Hull, where it is up to somebody else to tidy it up innit, but the inherent good breeding in his East Riding genes got him to pick it up.
Doubtful, given the fines for chucking tab ends in Hull. In the East Riding they just literally hurl **** off the fields. Slobs they are.
