The council can do as much as possible to improve the city centre, yet sadly it'll still be frequented by ****s.
Unfortunately this is the case all over in this country. Maybe time to take the attitude to this thst they do in Singapore.
Have chewing shelters dotted around the city, like smoking shelters outside pubs. Anti Chewing Gum Enforcement Officers (ACE) in hi-vis and 'Mastication free zones' should do it. Seriously though there are some senseless people out there , they seem to respect nothing.
This sounds like a good idea to me. What do they do in Germany? I'm always hearing how pristine the streets are there.
Apparently they pay alcoholics in beer and ***s to clear up the streets. Don't know who they pay to clear up the alcoholics afterwards though...
Don't know about how within the influx of non Aryans but they used to teach their kids to have a bit of self respect and consideration for others. I was at a Christmas Msrket in Germany a few years ago and a gang of lads were sat around the temporary ice skating rink drinking copious amounts of cans. Tattoos, piercings, leather jackets, ripped jeans, just the type people would look at in this country and instantly think yobs. Before they left one of them got a large black bag from a stallholders and they put all their cans in and placed it in a bin. Couldn't see that happening here. Someone else's job, innit?
Would you say it's a hopeless task to stop the littering, or do you have any ideas of how it might be done?
I would say it is hopeless. We have been breeding successive generations with no civic pride who feel they can do what they want. It has long been the case. I remember being on the underground in Rotterdam in1972. It was spotless. Even in those days you couldn't smoke on public transport or in cinemas or theatres in Holland. Someone got off the train, took out what must have been his last cigarette all ready to light up when he reached the topic of the stairs , and threw the empty packet on the floor. Someone in uniform, a railway worker, said to him that there were fines for littering and to pick it up and put it in a bin. My mate complimented him on his English and asked him how he knew the offender was English. Easy, replied the Bloke, only the English do things like that. Nothing has changed.
Firstly that's all bollocks and secondly the person you just speculated on is a good friend of mine. He isn't elected because he's an employee, not a councillor. Calm yerself down...
Yeah I know, that's exactly what I said - he wasn't elected and he worked for Inglis. I worked closely to the pair of them at the time. I didnt 'speculate' on anything. Which part of my post was 'all bollocks'?
My daughters friends brother came over from USA last year. I asked him what he thought and the 1st thing he said was that he was staggered at the amount of litter on British streets. It was embarrassing to here him say it.
Well, I was in the US this summer and walking in the streets of SF and LA in the morning was like walking through a rubbish dump which included human beings sleeping in virtually every available doorway. Ask your pal what he thinks about that.
No hes not my mate and he lives near the Canadian border. And he wasnt slagging our country just commenting about the state of the streets. You can calm down now.!!
My girlfriend's mates live in SF and she visited a couple of years ago, said the homelessness and drug aggled ****ed-up-ness is on a level she's never seen before.
