First thing he would have right since getting here! My opinion is he thinks he is far too important and wants his own threads instead of following the usual conventions. I just tried to advise him, just more bluntly than you!

I'm all for people starting good threads or their own, I don't understand why start so many different ones on a daily basis that are just links to NewsNow stories that aren't even that important or interesting but I agree, I should just ignore and live and let live

I must be honest - I've posted a number of NN links to open a thread. The reason was that I thought it might stimulate discussion on our thread. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But how many of the threads that you mention have remained with the OP only, with no follow up comment. Can't say I remember it ever happening.
Have you done several in the same day on several consecutive days though I accept I'm probably in the minority who find it slightly annoying and like Eire said live and let live
