I did, the other times it was raised. You denying it doesn't make it true.

Barely voting to remain would not have sent a strong message that we're happy with the way that the EU is run.
That's simply not true. The fact that there was a vote in the first place makes it clear that we weren't.
Wouldn't surprise me. Russia's funded a lot of these movements and it's working well.
The press relentlessly banging an anti-immigration drum makes it pretty inevitable, too.

    I don't agree.

I think a narrow vote in flavour of remain would have sent a distinct warning shot across the bows of those in Brussels that all is not well!...

I think you answered the first part of the statement with the second part.
As PNP said, most politicians both in the UK and EU didn't think much is wrong with the EU, whilst the people they represent didn't agree. It's easy to label all those who voted leave as right wing bigots, but I believe the problems with the EU go far deeper than that.

True, but voting to leave the EU was a calamitous way to make it evolve to better suit the UK's needs.

Sorry we will have to agree to disagree on this. I think Brussels would be patting themselves on the back, working on plans to increase our contributions and talking about Turkey's "fast track" membership.

Exactly! You'll change nothing by standing on the outside staring in, but unable to change anything.

A lot of the criticism was also nonsense, though. I've lost count of the number of dumb things that I saw the EU blamed for.
Turkey's membership plans are utterly, utterly dead. The only person talking them up lead the Brexit push.

It's not going to evolve in a good way
It's better to be out of a failed experiment

The Euro is a failure and freedom of movement was handled badly
The EU should have had a two tier membership with the countries with the better economies in tier one

I actually agree with all of this.
The Euro was a stupid idea and the economic fallout was inevitable.
Movement between EU states needed to be more restrictive in a lot of cases.

This is the point I'm making, if we had voted to remain, we are saying, as a nation we are happy with the way the EU is run.
What would we be changing? If we are happy, what's to change?

I can't disagree either. The Euro, or Ecu, as it used to be known, should have been kept a a trade currency only.

Again, I disagree. Only a blind fool would take a small percentage in favour of remaining as some sort of overwhelming assent to everything Brussels is doing, or has planned.

Better to be on the inside engineering and influencing that collapse than on the outside getting hammered by it. No different to being involved in a company winding down. Better to be one of the directors winding it down than a service provider whose business is heavily reliant on that company.
