Us in yet another pointless game (I know, I know it's a World Cup qualifier but I hate International Breaks) in another pain in the butt International Break which everyone wants...NOT. Come on England, rah, rah, rah.
you can see why the corporates don't come back for the second half when there is little or no effort from the players it was more like a testimonial game but costing a lot more
Not impressed at all. Rooney playing deep in midfield did nothing for me. Looks like they are just determined to find him any position, after all he is our best player and captain. ( joke )
I only saw the first half but Henderson was actually the only play who loked international quality. He should be england captain. If SAF was still managing ManU Rooney would have retired by now. Game has changed too much really at the highest level, either you have to be a powerful mobile striker or a mobile midfielder. Rooney is neither. The others well... I mean Alli is useful and hopefully will improve. The wingers though..delivery just poor 90% of the time. Maybe Lallana is more accurate I don't know. England striking options...very meh. They're all hot n cold, can score a good goal on their day but never consistently. Goes for the lot of them, Vardy, Kane, Sturridge. England actually phased out the really useful players we had much too early...Barry, Milner, Cashley, Lampard. But for some reason hang onto Rooney like he's still the kid prodigy. Ah i just see Joe Hart played... facepalm. And Lingaard starting ahead of Townsend or Rashford... and no pitch time for Antonio as always.
I can't believe Rashford is not starting through the middle. Reminds me of a young Patrick Kluivert. Rooney seems to just bear the brunt for all, its hilarious. I think he is ok in that midfield role to be honest. The only thing is, he like all our midfielders lack passing quality to really pick apart defences. Alli is a good player but he is hardly creative. Wilshere at his best would be the best option, or Ross Barkley. Both seem to have issues and their careers are not progressing which is hurting England. Talent, technical wise there should be enough amongst Wilshere, Ox, Walcott, Barkley, Townsend, Sterling, Alli, Dier, Henderson, Rooney, Lallana to put together a decent midfield. For whatever reason they are always injured, out of form or just complete knackers off the field.
Can't even be bothered to waste my time watching England play at any level now Since the players appear to have given up on wanting to play for their National team, I don't see why I should put myself out either...
Average players aside, wtf is it with managers going with 4-2-3-1 completely regardless of opposition? Against Malta we should be able to go something like 3-4-3 with no fear of anything bad happening. Hoddle called it in commentary - said the formation was set up to counter attack at pace, so why not let Malta come a little way up the field with the ball then just pick them off? Failing that you need a couple if not more players up top to drag them about a bit; we had the ball wide with the front guys and even against semi-pro's, 3 defenders is going to be tough. Ultimately, however it looks, it's 2 x DM's and four defenders. Against fcking Malta. Same old problems. Fat Sham showed he was going to do the same, Southgate hasn't the real world experience to pick other formations. I don't expect us to do much as always, but there's talent enough around to put 16 players in there who can win games with style.
The England players can all piss off. They're ****, overrated prima donna pricks that 'earn' far too much money. You just have to watch the singing of the national anthem to see how much of a damn they give. At least with other nations their players belt out the anthem. Our lot - traitors that should be lined up against a wall and shot.
Exactly - look at players of 10+ years ago, a real pride in wearing the shirt - can you imagine Shearer, Adams, Butcher, Ince even the likes of Beckham and (God forbid) John Terry not singing their hearts out and at least looking like they gave a **** about the result. it's just an inconvenience to today's lot - getting in the way of the real money making opportunities
This is why Hoddle should still be manager, at least he has the basic brain capacity to understand how to overcome footballs age old puzzles. i.e. teams who sit deep
Hoddle had the Italian press drooling after we went to Rome and showed their national team a thing or two about tactical nous. A bit of a shame that his born again Christian bollocks got in the way. The way he was hounded out for an ill advised comment was disgusting.
