Nah, the transition excuse is just a matter of how you personally define it, a better way of putting it(in terms of not winning the title for so long)is failure considering how much money we've thrown at it down the years. With our manager changes every few years and us selling our best players it seems like its perpetual transition but its just inconsistency by individuals like owners, Ayre, managers and players for various reasons down the years. But our trophies(apart from and since our last league title)have been very nice but papered over our inconsistency. Man U had the perfect opportunity to keep their consistency when Rudolf retired, but his chosen one sacked the backroom staff and dismantled the tried and trusted ways of success at that club, they are now in a perpetual state of transition and are throwing mega millions into the transfer market and also changing their manager on a regular basis......and long may it last.
Think United have had roughly the same number of managers Liverpool have had during the two transitional periods and both spunking millions on players.
You can call it what you like; transition, evolution etc but the lesson is that you can't afford to "stand still". The club must look to continually improve because other clubs are willing to do so.
I agree. the new buzz word is "growth mentality" v "fixed mentality" Either you are I am this. i was born this way and that makes me great or you are on a never ending journey. Saying hey you did great is no good to anyone or saying i did great this game cos i'm **** hot is no good. You need to be able to say. I did this and this cos i spent HOURS and HOURS working on it but i'm continuing to work on this and this to do better next time. There is "tranisition" = an excuse for not winning and there is "development" which is an ongoing thing. LFC are "developing" Increase capacity at anfield, increasing revenues off the filed, improving team on the pitch, looking to change the training facilities.
Are we better than when Brendan Rodgers left?. Brendan Rodgers is doing well at Celtic, 27 points clear at the top.
Rodgers has found his level in Scotland which is equivalent to championship. Klopp is 10x the manager Rodgers is or ever will be. Rodgers inherited a better squad than Klopp.
Winning the SPL with Celtic is no achievement, especially since they dont even have Rangers challenging them anymore. It used to be 50/50....with Rangers still recovering from their administration, it will be a while before they challenge, expect the next 5 SPLs to go to Celtic.
