UK government has told LSE it wants trade advice but only from UK citizens. At the same time it has seconded Aussie trade negotiators to negotiate a trade deal with Australia.

    You couldn't make this up.

That's exactly what they're doing. It's called "The Plan".

Not sure if it's been mentioned on here yet. but the ****ing TREACHERY of May and the Tories running roughshod over democratic decision making at local council level, in sanctioning fracking in Lancashire.

Goes against all democratic principles and the recently ratified Paris climate agreement, putting fossil fuels ahead of renewables.

It is an awful decision that has no long term benefit. Completely the wrong signal when we should be avoiding fossil fuels at all costs.

I agree with you to a point, but we dont have enough renewables on line yet to stop using fossil fuels, so fracking is the next best thing.

The technology is there for renewables, wind, solar, wave, geothermal. It just needs the investment in infrastructure.

Digging up fossil fuels is completely the wrong thing to be spending this investment on.

I thinks thats the problem "investment in infrastructure" the extra cost we would have to pay on bills would be too high

So an increase in the cost of living is acceptable if it's to keep the foreigners out but unacceptable if it's to stop the planet from dying?

You're even more scared than I thought! <laugh>

Voters in this country know that the loony left are too incompetent to run the country and they will never be given the opportunity

Sadly that's the line we are being peddled but it's not true.
Norway and Canada are both now committed to zero carbon, Germany regularly achieves 100% renewable.

The newer kite and floating turbines mean you don't even need a huge infrastructure, just the will.

It's hiring Australians to negotiate with Australia? Are they working as translators or something?

Not hiring, the Australian government have offered some of their trade negotiators to help us negotiate. Which is very generous of them.
