The daft thing is, Labour don't need to do much to engineer a massive swing in their favour. The country is going to be ****ed for the next few years, of that there is no doubt. There will be a massive backlash against the Tories as the more stupid in society (ie the Kustards) forget that they voted for chaos because they thought they were voting for apartheid. If Labour got an electable, Blair like, central left leader, they would be more than competitive in the next GE.

I've voted Tory all my life but if the government continue to behave the way they currently are, there's no way I'm voting for them in the next GE and I'm certainly not alone in that viewpoint.

It was a lot better. It gave chances for people to stand for election as independents with a realistic chance to get elected without having to use the party coat tails.

And this is a good thing?

Do you not think it is in the national interest to have an effective opposition? Why do you take such obvious pleasure in the troubles of the Labour Party? Is it because, to you, politics is like football, where you declare your tribal loyalty, where your team's scarf and colours, and try to convince yourself that the outfit you support are actually world beaters despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary? Do you sing "They're by far the greatest party, the world has ever seen" even when it's obvious the Tories have completely lost their way?

The Sensible Party only got three votes but it had to reject two of them as per Sensible Party policy when it was discovered that the voters were born in Poland.

There was a fourth voter, a junior graphic designer from Kidderminster, but he spelt X wrong.

Given I've just talked about AV taking away the power of the parties then your comments are totally ridiculous

Given what's seemingly now going to transpire over our exit from the EU, Labour should waltz the next election due to the backlash from the moron element against the Tories.

No it isn't. Without effective opposition to the government of the day, parliamentary democracy is in danger of giving way to an elected dictatorship.

If you are staunch Tory you would not give a crap about an effective opposition.
save for Labour. The rest of us know we need a strong opposition.

You don't think it might even just be possibly true that the fact that those 'moderate' MPs have pretty much the same policies as the Tories who have beaten them twice running is why they can never be an effective opposition?

So you prefer Labour to come up with policies that the voters don't want so the Labour Party can be a party of protest who will never have any power?
