Not really. According to saints fans he said multiple times [and they'll find you every quote if you ask nicely] that he was seeing out his contract i.e. leaving next summer. He sees it out, everyone's a winner. Except Everton maybe but they could have got Emery or someone else.

 

He said he'd see out his contract, he never committed publicly to signing a new one.

Saints wanted him to commit he didn't fancy the terms, as he'd had a much lucrative offer suggested to him from us (via his agent).

The average tenure of a PL gaffer (if you exclude Wenger) is now about 20 months anyway. I don't think any Blues expect him to be around for longer than his 3 year deal, however, for the bigger fish to appear he'll have had to be a success with us. So if that happens, then so be it.

Do you think Klopp would stick around if Bayern or Barca came calling? I doubt it.

Point is he didn't see out his contract after many declarations that he would. Why keep saying it if you don't mean it. Football is cut throat, dog eat dog now unfortunately but it was bad form from him no matter what money was shook in front of him.

As for Klopp I have no doubt in my mind that he has integrity and wouldn't leave if Barca came calling while still under contract with us. Look at his managerial pattern, commitment, commitment, commitment.

Football is fluid and things change, when he originally said he'd see his deal out, that was patently his intention. Saints didn't want him running his contract down and so it ended up suiting both parties.

As for Klopp, he's under contract until 2022 - I'll bare my arse in front of the Kop if he's sees that out

To be honest non of the big clubs came in for me, but I live in hope and just have to keep working hard to impress them.

Most people want to make it to the top (or as high as they can get) in their chosen profession, suddenly rocking up at Liverpool, United or Arsenal does not automatically turn them into devout believers in said club. If the opportunity arrives to move higher they will take it.
