I suppose that much of the negativity might have been driven by the comprehensive nature of some of the defeats. We had become accustomed to a certain doggedness and unaccustomed to heavy defeats in recent years.
Tymon has struggled in the under 23 league this season? He isn't ready for the PL and it would destroy the lad. A loan in league one or two would be most suitable for him I think at this moment in time. Robbo is the perfect example of the fans negativity. In summer we didn't want him to go now we are all saying he ain't that great. Retrospectively should he have taken West Ham's 7 mill? As he has underperformed in probably two games!! In which the team were under pressure due to stupid sending offs. Honestly it's insane. He will come back into form and be golden boy again.
He's only 22, you can even think about writing him off yet. Realistically he has another 2/3 years before a big club will come in for him and there's still a lot of room for him improve and he will. I'd be very surprised if we don't see £20m+ for him in today's market
I have seen most of the U23's this season, and you are right Tymon is not having as good a season as last. This happened with young players, they have leveling off periods because they are growing and developing physically. Looking overall he is defensively more naturally gifted than Robertson from what I have seen. Don't misunderstand me I like Robertson, but defensively he has to improve to reaching being a top club player.
Don't misunderstand me I like Robertson and I hope he does improve defensively. The point I was making having seen a lot of Tymon last season and this, he is naturally a better defender than Robertson and could be better in this position. Robbo needs to improve defensively if he is to take the next step up to a top EPL team.
John, you have just admitted that Tymon is struggling to cut it in the u23 league. To be honest I doubt he is a better defender. From what I have seen this season he certainly isn't. That isn't being critical of Tymon I just worry that so much pressure is put on the lad. And he just looks like he is struggling.
Those seven games included Champions Leicester up first and matches against Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. The other two being away games to Burnley and Swansea. From that run I'd have expected a point and hoped for 4. I think seven is a good return. The next seven are a different matter. Bornemouth (A), Stoke(H), Watford(A), Southhampton(H), Sunderland(A), WBA(H) and Middlesborough(A). We have to hope for more than 7 points from those don't we?!?!
I was replying to PMT for some unknown reason, it posted my post twice, but with you being SO intelligent, you noticed that and you werent being a WUM.... obviously. <shakes head>
no, a wum like you would think that. what is so hard to understand? my reply to PLT got posted twice. sheesh. so simple.
Whose negative? The majority of posters on here so the run from Man utd as being very difficult. I for one predicted one point and that is what we got. The season itsn't about the Manu, Arse, Chelsea et al, its about the stokes and sunland, west broms and west hams..
Have a look at the recent motm threads and match threads and you will see some of the old criticism of last year creeping in.
