Yes they looked good, very much in tune but it was hull.... and very 10men. Lovern does try hard but it's matip who will be sweeping up for with guy. I can say 100% either man will be giving 2 inches in height to zlatan and zlatan won't be hanging round where matip can compete with him in general play. Lovern is taller. End of imo.
Perhaps we should sign a giraffe? I get your point, but height alone is not the answer. We have to be smart with Zlatan - the first thing is to try and prevent too many long balls finding him in a dangerous position. Failing that, someone has to be tight on him and lean into him a bit to put him off balance - just trying to out-jump him won't really work and he doesn't need to win many for it to be fatal. Lovren is improving all the time under Klopp, but I'm still not full of confidence in him.
Yes first press the kicker, second mark him well, third mop up the second ball. We have seen zlatan do nothing for Sweden many times simply cos it's not a passing game or he's marked out. Cl performances is the only credit for me he gets for psg and honestly that fame suits him more. We need to make this an English game for him by forcing utd to kick it. However if he's got an easy time cos he easily out jumps his rival that's an issue.
May have worded it better but there are more crosses coming from our left flank than right flank. That's not all on Milner - it's the midfield as well. But surely you would expect teams to target Milner as he's not a natural left back? And credit to him because we've not suffered too badly because of it.
I see what your saying, but if all defenders needed to be taller than the striker, then the prem would look like the NBA, and peter crouch would be playing for madrid after signing for 90m. Its to early to call at the minute, which is the best partnership, and klopp is going to have seen alot more of the players than us to judge, but the fact remains, lovren brings me out in a cold sweat, when ever he goes for the ball. again i at this is much more to do with past rather than current form.
sure but its just a straight choice between klavan and lovern. and lovern is slightly taller.. not by much mind. Ideally matip would mark the guy but forwards will pull off to the side where its easiest. You can't deny lovren is a trier.. and sadly the fact is we've just not seen enough of klavan in red to realise IMO he's not actually any better
I do like lovren, if he had started like he is playing now, it would be a no brainer. **** it you have won me over with your cunning debate, if he falls on his arse, and lets utd in i will be blaming you directly.
On Lovren i fully expect him to start or else why was he immediately brought back once he could see. I hope to see Migs instead of Karius but expect to be disappointed . Karius may have only had a couple of games but he scares the crap out of me so far.
Karius will get better, he has more confidence about him than migs, and im sure he will make a few mistakes but all players need to bed in. Remember de Gea was shocking for united when he first played, everybody thought they had bought another taibi.
i saw no reason to swop him for Migs though. Thought Migs had been OK this season and the nervousness of Karius versus Swansea worries me considering the atmosphere there will be versus ManU surprised Police didn't object to a night game tbh
Im not sure on migs position within the club, surely to good and to expensive to be second choice, plus he has improved. Was the new contract purely to protect his worth? If this was any other position, you would be saying dont mess with a winning team but most are happy Karius has come in. Again, this must be down to Klopp seeing something that we havent, i dont think migs deserved to be dropped and if i where him i wouldnt be best pleased, surely he would have wanted assurances when he signed a new deal. I carnt see us swapping keepers to suit the opposition.
oh an on the night game, i am amazed the police have let it go ahead, plenty of time for a few beers before hand does not lend itself well to this match.
Oh i agree it looked all along that Klopp bought Karius to be number 1 , It just grates when someone has clearly worked on his game i.e. Migs distribution has been much better this season imo , yet gets dropped for no apparent reason as Karius has yet to show anything that suggests he is a clear and obvious upgrade. None of which matters of course because if Klopp , like any other manager , decides X is his choice noone can , rightly, do anything as it his job to make that decision . Obviously we will still stick our oar in.
If we all agreed with the manager, and took every decision and result with good grace, the sport would be very different. There must not be much worse as a footballer than being dropped for no apparent reason though, you improve, you play well, you do what the boss tells you, and your still sat on the subs bench.
We persisted with Migs poor performance for 3 years. I'm sure we can be patient with Karius. Even Reina was poor on crosses in his first season.
I have not mentioned that the one area Lovren is total **** at is set piece and someone is bound to score off him but they were bound to anyway irrespective of who plays.
If they start going long then Hendo needs to sit 5 yards in front of Zlatan with Matip or Klavan behind him. Make sure if he wins it, he's only flicking it on and not bringing it down.
