True. It's easy to point the finger when someone cocks it up and cost us points. Not quite so simple to calculate how many points they've saved through playing well. It's the mistakes we remember from defenders.
Agreed. Wasn't having a go at Clyne because I do like him, but mistakes are mistakes whether they are punished or not.
Ibrahimovic legs are gone would soon be a grand dad, nevertheless must not be underated. Klavan is good but not better than Lovern or Matip. We need to keep Ibrahimovic quiet
We'll out play them.. create a ****e load of chances and most likely lose 2-0, them getting their second on the counter in the 92nd minute.. You heard it hear first!
I really feel this could be a cracking game for the neutral and a real heart stopper for the fans of both clubs. Much has been said about our defence and at times I think the media are harsh, yes there are problems but they are not as bad as reported, Clyne and Milner are solid enough full backs Matip has been brilliant (other than 45 mins v Swansea) but yes there is work to be done especially on set pieces. Going forward I don't need to say anything both midfield and the forwards have been brilliant and teams can't live with us. Utd have had a slow-ish start but all of a sudden it seems to have clicked despite the draw last weekend, Fellani and Rooney benched Herrera is in and Pogba playing where he has more influence. Up top Ibra is influential and Rashford and Martial have pace and goals. It would seem that with both teams the defence is where mistakes may happen so who wins? Home advantage is huge for us but we also need to be calm and control the game, Coutinho is the key for me and we win or lose on his performance (no pressure) for me he is controlling the game for us and keeps us ticking over there may well be more eye catching performances but his simple passing and the way he ups the tempo with a pass or run is what will be the difference next weekend, if we get him on the ball and he controls the tempo we will win. For Utd if they can get the ball to stick up top to Ibra that's where they will have some joy Rashfrod and Martial will cut in other than staying wide and if they can get on the ball in and around the box it would be a worry. Looking forward to it and also can't wait for it to be over.
Its all about intensity. Pogba is a big game player but this game could be too much of an ask as a cm in a two for him. Mouri ho needs to be very solid and expect the very intense high press. It will be interesting to see the relative tactical approaches to the game.
z @luvgonzo. Please don't forget your BP tablets. Won't forget mine- Laughing all the way to Bed on Monday night 17/10/16
A lot banking on this game for both teams. The weekend's fixtures would have all passed by the time we play, which means that we know where we will stand whatever the result. If the teams ahead of us win we know we have to try keep up, if they drop points will it be an opportunity missed? I'm speaking from both teams perspective here. Will United close the gap? Will we increase it to 6 points? There's a lot to consider even before the game, a long weekend of football and it's exciting.
It would be good to have 6 point gap even though it's early on in the season as it would put Jose under a little pressure. More importantly though it keeps our run going.
Its still only 3 points and no more important that any other of the 37 games. IMO LFC "should" have more of the ball being the home team but utd WILL get chances and period in the game where they get control. It is how much we take advantage of good positions and what we cough up unfortunately. LFC are VERY likely going to give at least one gaol off a corner to utd. Utd will have smalling, Bailly, Ibrahimovic and pogba while some people want us to stick in klavan. Basically and quality delivery for utd and the could score. Clyne marking for example is a joke. We just don't need any more mistakes than that. We know thats likely so we really have to not just hand a handy position to them on the break etc. I just think personally this game will be under lights at new anfield and will be quite tasty atmosphere and as a big game I really expect a much better showing than v swansea from us in terms of real press and real intensity.
Yeah the atmosphere will be brilliant with it being an evening game, so much better than the FA trying to get it played early on Saturday or Sunday.
Klopp knows the strength and weakness of the team, he is going to take account of this when setting up his team. Last year united won by one odd goal from set pieces, it must not happen again.
What big game has he turned up too? Juventus v barca in the champions league final? The Euro final? Manchester derby? Tbh im still waiting for him to turn up let a lone be a big game player.
Stop the crosses from coming in and we should be ok. Clyne is excellent at that but I worry about the left hand side which is where teams are targeting. Would prefer klaven to lovren because I feel he's better suited to the physical battle.
Not another dig at Milly there, Jimmy? Tbh, I don't keep note of these things, so I'd be interested to know how many of the goals we've conceded have come from a weakness on the LH side since Moreno was dropped. The only errors that stick out in my memory have been on the right, disregarding our obvious uselessness at set-pieces.
a little unfair given his record over 4 years with juve. 4 good years with 4 italian titles and they got to CL final
Id prefer Klavan and Matip, i think they have a better understanding together, its early days but they seems more in sync than lovren. They both read the game better and klaven looks to know when to come and win it and when to sit back. A good CB pairing is often more than the sum of its parts. I also expect Lovren to get bullied off the ball at least once, not mention making a mad dash to head the ball and miss it completely, probably a hang over from his past form but im never truly convinced.
