With the International break starving us of Leeds United action, I thought I'd post some articles to keep the football chat going. Pablo Hernandez is slowly becoming, or increasing his status as a cult hero at Leeds, and the fans are loving him; even Spain have now jumped on bandwagon after his recent performances and goals. We have Jannson making big headlines in Sweden and Hernandez back in Spain. Who were the last two cult heros we had, Becchio and Beckford? and how far back do we have to go before we can actually recognise deserving players as cult heroes...O'leary's team? http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/10/0...eds-united-midfielder-pablo-hernandez/page/1/
Id have to include Snoddy as a recent one. They all pale into insignificance compared to Revies men in my books though. Every player that played for him deserves the title of cult hero imo
No one could arguably beat Revies players as the finest cult heroes we've had Eire, there'll be comparisons, but no one to beat Revies best......
He is playing good football, a player we have been crying out for for years, and certainly since McCormack left....who was another cult hero, although you wont admit it. One can only imagine how much better we would be doing with Casper Sloth in the side rather than Pablo though....imagine how Sloth and Bianchi would work in tandem together. We would be top, no doubt.
Why mention Sloth? Elland will be reaching for his Kleenex again, hed just got over him. Agree on McCormack. Think hes slipping downhill now though as Villa move hasnt worked
I'll never mention him again, apparently he isn't doing so well wherever he moved....another load of money wasted on him. For the time he was with us McCormack was a great player, guaranteed goals and all round technical player. One of the best we have had since the champions league days that's for sure. I did think the Villa move was a strange one as I never expected them to be challenging, I expected him to go to Newcastle or Norwich. Other cult players include Snoddy, Gradel and less for footballing reasons Andy Hughes and Jesus.
Its refreshing to see our latest bunch of recruits seem to be nearly all a success. Presume its down to Clotet and Monk being familiar with most before signing. Hopefully gone are the days of the Jimmy Kebes and Stewarts claiming to be wingers, absolute garbage
As I recall, McContract had 2 good seasons with us & 2 stinkers. Hardly the stuff of cult heroes IMO. I do concede however, that on his game, he was excellent.
Agree Jock, cult heroes don't put themselves on skysport to let everyone know he's available to buy.....
Every generation of Leeds Utd supporter/fan will have their own cult hero. Vinnie Jones, John Sheridan, David Batty, Billy Bremner were the ones who came to my mind first.
nice thread Loverboy ... Beckford certainly had cult status, due to where he came from, scoring the winner at Old Toilet and clinching promotion in his last game for us the Wlikinson title team had some genuine legends as well, Batty probably being the main one ... even though Vinny Jones only had one season at Leeds, he definitely holds cult status from the O'Leary years, Radebe (signed by Wilko) is probably the biggest, a club legend forever right now, Jansson has to be the new Chief, and as far as cult status is concerned, you can see him becoming a definite cult hero because he is always involved and fighting his heart out for the cause ... Hernandez is starting to settle, but I think he is still prone to disappearing when the going gets tough, so he will really have to dazzle consistently to become a legend such a shame Kewell lost his way thanks to his evil agent, he was the real deal and had everything ... pace, power, touch, technique, aerial ability and could finish ... a great player for Leeds, he never found his form again after he went to Victimpool and it was to be expected I suppose, signing for a smaller club Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
you've never been to any games so you wouldn't know how much the fans liked him, so your opinion is irrelevant
I think you're stepping over the line here, Paul. LL is entitled to an opinion, and this particular opinion does not have to be based on live games. Easy tiger.
Disagree entirely. We're talking about the right to hold & express an opinion here, which is highly encouraged on this site. Earning stripes & respect is a different matter altogether.
I second it and think you were right with the other part too. To be fair i still dont know which site lost out. JA got mike and we got LL. #tooclosetocall
Not going to get into another ruck so this is my last word on it. So with all due respect My point is: You need evidence before forming an opinion, anything is just speculation.
