As has been explained many times, it's not only going to affect travel abroad. That's the least of it.

A weak currency means that your imports become more expensive. As the U.K. has a significant trade deficit - it imports far more than it exports - this will lead to increased cost of raw materials, etc. That in turn leads those importers and manufacturers to pass their increased costs onto the retailers. They then pass that on to the consumer. Result, inflation.

In more normal times, rising inflation would lead to interest rates rising. However, with the economy up **** creek, and massive uncertainty for the next two years or more, the BoE will be reluctant to do that.

    Almost unavoidable result - stagflation.

Theresa May will today condemn the metropolitan elite for sneering at millions of ordinary Britons over immigration.
In words that will resonate across the country, the Prime Minister will criticise those who try to dismiss the concerns of many voters as ‘parochial’.
And she will savage the political and chattering classes who think the public’s patriotism is ‘distasteful’ and their views on crime ‘illiberal’.

Why have so many Prime Ministers gone to Oxford University?
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37500542
"But despite the widespread belief that a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) is essential to a career in politics, meeting the right people is far more important, says Prof Evans."
This drives me mad! It's "Philosophy, Politics and Economics" http://www.ppe.ox.ac.uk/
You don't call the prime minister May Theresa.
NB. I don't think that Robert Evans was at fault. It would be a stupid journalist that wrote down PPE and then expanded it wrongly.

    Express or Mail?

I've noticed that as well as starting a new account, you've also stopped posting links to the articles you're quoting.

    You're quite the pussy Kustard.

... one less than the minister who likely has a poorly paid, non-uk national, member of staff on (often in) hand ... :)

It's an easy argument to make and if the pound rebounds swiftly then you are right.
2008/9 the period below 1.10 was less than 2 weeks. The period below 1.15 was a couple of months and the knock on effect was a quadrupling of inflation from 1.2% in 2009 to 5% in 2011. The pound didn't fully recover until 2015.

If the drop is sustained for longer then the harm will be larger and the recovery slower.

At least two years of uncertainty ahead starting no earlier than the end of March 2017. In that time, what is going to make the GBP tick significantly up?
