I don't get that, I thought he did little wrong, if you're going to single out a player tonight, it should be either Gulasci or Adebola.

He's like Gerrard, he can win the ball OK, but once he gets it if he can't knock it long he hasn't got a clue.

If Ayala comes it has to be Hobbs dropping out.

I have to say I thought he was very poor tonight. Positional sense lousy, let the striker get between him and the goal too easily. Mis placed passes, too many to mention. Hopefully a one off, but until he's consistently good rather than consistently crud, he shouldn't be captain.

I thought he did ok, not as good as Chester but he did ok. We've only played one game of a long season, some people need to get a grip and try not to be so downhearted about it. There's a long way to go yet.

i agree with the original post . hobbs was crap and is. remember last week i suggested he would be found out without Gerrard who covered him last season, and most on here had a go at me, well tonight he was found out. mostly out of position . i was wrong though, Chester was a credit, and covered for Hobbs (especially in the first half).

Hobbs is a poor defender and i was disappointed we didn't bring in a new centre half, his positioning is so poor.. and his ball play is poor to say the least..

Slightly concerned that we a) paid £800k for him and b) identified him as our number one defensive signing.

On the games I've seen him play so far he's slightly clumsy, poor at passing and positionally naive. Basics he should have sorted out by now....yet all his weakness were on display tonight.

If Ayala comes in, in my mind Hobbs would be 3rd choice. But Nige has made him captain he clearly rates him. Has Hobbs got something on Nige?

Don't agree, his distribution was poor at times but his general defensive work was ok, not his best game but certainly not bad enough to warrant some of the opinions expressed above, if cairney or mckenna had dropped into the hole in midfield and taken some responsibility instead of heading off to the half way line hobbs limitations would have been less exposed.

    Jack Hobbs is good

Don't know whats wrong with you all

Hull played as good as if not better then Blackpool for most of the game, we just couldn't finish, if we had we would have won it 3-1 or something

Hobbs just had a bad game. I don't think it will be regular occurrence, but if we do get Ayala I will be very annoyed if drops Chester over Hobbs as I think Chester is the better defender and is a lot more composed on the ball. Saved Hobbs tonight a couple of times mopping up a couple of his mistakes.

If we get Ayala and Chester is dropped i will be extremely disappointed in Pearson and will start to question him seriously

Some of these comments make me despair of being a city fan, guess things will never change. How anybody can be judged after the first game of the season is beyond me.

He's not that bad is he. Typical over-reaction from people, you'd think we'd lost 6-0 and he'd put three in his own net whereas if our strikers had buried their chances it would be forgotten, oh well have a good weekend people enough negativity for one day for me!
