Was gutted, wanted to try this unusual and exotic fruit, and went through all that prep, for total crap!
Well Cromer - I've searched for the 'beer and chips' thread and it sends to have disappeared. I'd a couple of pints of Bishop's Farewell in the Wig and Pen and ordered my fish and chips from the Stafford St chippy, but got there early, so had time for a half of Oakham Citra whilst waiting. All in all an excellent evening!! Edit - The 'Beer and Chips' thread has reappeared, either that, or I've sobered up!!!!
Sounds great! We popped down to the Robert Kett in Wymondham. I tired their new "mixed grill burger" which was fantastic. Few pints, emptied out after the game finished so we played a few games of Pool. Really nice night. Also, with the early kick off, usually we would get in past midnight and have to go to bed. We got in at half 8! Still got the whole evening. Lovely stuff!
Went to the giggling squid last night, doubt I'd go again. Bang average at best. Certainly not as good as others in the fine city. Thai kitti being the best at the mo in my umble Bah!
I'm a big fan of 'The House', on the corner of Queens Rd near St Stephen's roundabout. 2 course set lunch and a medium glass of wine for circa £12 And the food is absolutely deeeee-lish. Edit - It's good to see that lovely building on Tombland occupied rather than standing idle. Happy days - and happy hours in Boswells fine jazz and blues venue, later to become La Tasca before the latter pulled the plug.
Pork, apple, chick peas, sweet potato (etc) casserole just gone in. Plenty of time for a swift pint of Abbot while it does it's thing in the oven
The house is good but if you go in a larger group it can be frustrating. They never seem able to bring the food out together or in any sensible sort of way. I've had a main arrive and waited the best part of 10 minutes for my rice whilst the main got cold. I think once as a party of 6 we were receiving our food over a 20 minute period! Bah!
Gonna herby breadcrum some place fillets, roast them. Serve it with a little chilli couscous and steam some veg. Could do with some sort of sauce with that, but trying to cook healthier and also don't think I have the energy or motivation to add another aspect to the meal tonight.
It's a Bechamel sauce with shredded or grated Gruyere cheese though you can use a different cheese if you wish!
Just been to Debut City College for a lovely meal and quite reasonably priced. They also do lunches for more details and menus - http://debut.ccn.ac.uk/debut-restaurant
Wasn't going to do grated cheese. Was going to use a couple of punches of Parmesan in it to just give it a hint of cheesy.
On tonight's menu, I have courtesy of M&S - Root vegetable rainbow pie* (V) Roast spiced beetroot, sweet potato and butternut squash in a tomato and spinach sauce, with a cream cheese and parsley layer, encased in all-butter shortcrust pastry and topped with a pumpkin and sunflower seed crumb Rosemary wedges - With rosemary, parsley and roasted garlic. With mixed veg Crème brulée - Indulgent yet lightly baked vanilla custard with a sachet of golden sugar for you to caramelise All washed down with a TERRE SICILIANE BIANCO
Sounds quite acceptable, for boil-in-the-bag nonsense Braising steak, veggies various and red wine casserole simmering away nicely and filling the flat with tantalising aromas
