I left QPR away around 87/88 minutes. We were 6-0 up and I only just made the last train home (the doors were shutting as I ran up to it). If I had stayed for the final whistle I would have had to taken another day off work and pay for a hotel. In future I'll just get a whip round from the fans who moan about people leaving early (despite not knowing anyone's circumstances) to pay for the time off and accom. Rant over.
Think it's mostly at home games that he's on about. I don't really care tbh. Some people need/want to beat the traffic/rush. Some people don't like to queue at the bar. Some people's tolerance of watching **** football runs out after 85 minutes. It's fair enough. I rarely leave early, even when we are playing crap and getting walloped. What is a bit **** though is when people watch the second half in the concourse or bar areas.
Some of our younger fans at away games, at half time on the concourse, they think "it's a laugh" to jump about and fling beer over all and sundry. Fkn tossers.
Also it saves having to drink it and puke in front of their friends. "I had 15 pints me like". 12 of them are on the Rotherham concourse unfortunately.
It’s a small boy (or girl) clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his (or hers) father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him (or her) and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love." ...... then playing on their iPad.
That is genuine reason. However 90% of those who leave early have no such valid reason. I would happily stake a large sum on this. If its a home game, you buy a season ticket, there are very few circumstances to justify leaving early. People can do as they please for me but those who leave early from a home game just to beat the traffic are not truly invested in supporting the team in my opinion. If you leave because your son or daughter has a commitment every Saturday at 5.30pm then fair enough - there are more important things than football. Reality is too many go to the ground and go through the motions, it doesn't help the team. The clue is in the name - supporters. To offer support. Sitting in silence, moaning or leaving early is not offering support to your side. I think these are the people we are targeting, not people like yourself who have genuine work reasons. Rant royally rebuffed
I was gutted to leave that match early, was convinced we'd get a seventh (thought I'd hear a roar as I was running to the tube) and wanted to applaud the players off.
The number of people that leave early to 'beat the traffic' is just ridiculous. They aren't true supporters and are probably the same people that moan every time we play. Likewise people that disappear early to 'beat the queues' so they can buy a pint. They aren't there for football reasons. They are there to drink. Kindly **** off and let someone that wants to be there at the game get a ticket.
I hate ****s who stand in my seating area... then when I ask them to **** off (producing my ticket) they just say 'thought it was away day rules'..... then **** off sheepish like.
