There was about 200/300 hundred of them in the ground that night. **** knows how they got in when banned
Not so fond memories of a Tuesday night in Wrexham for an FA cup tie (first round?) in mid 90s. Drove from London, arrived 15 minutes late and had to bang on the doors to get someone to let me in. Cold foggy November evening, not many there in the weird looking three sided Racecourse ground. 0-0 aet, lost on pens. Exhaust pipe fell off in Wandsworth between 2 - 3am on way home.
Blackpool away, Christmas 69. (maybe 70) missed the one bus that was going so decided to hitchhike hoping to meet the lads and get the bus home. Got to Blackpool at 4.30 pm. Big sign on the railway station ( travelled the last few miles via train) Match postponed because of fog. No-one there. Got chased around Blackpool bus station by skinheads. Finally got a bus to Preston then a train to Manchester, then onto Hull without a penny piece in my pocket. Nothing to eat and drink all day and had to walk home from Paragon getting in at about 3.00 am. Happy Days.
Probably Gillingham away 1979(?) Tuesday night, only a 12 seater mini bus there and a handful of southern based fans.
Lots of great memories on this thread, wasn't quite the lowest turnout but the funniest 4 me personaly, mid 70's we had drawn 1-1 with Plymouth at BP in round 3 i think, so my old man said if City win the replay he'd take me & my mate 2 the next round game if it was away (13 or 14 at the time) we won 4-1 i think & got sunderland away. set off from Graham ave in a blizzard! got 2 paragon & heard the match had been postponed (special train had not left but many coaches had got as far as pocklington) loads going that day, got postponed again the following week. dad couldn't make the game in the end so we had 2 go with my grandad (about a bus & half) driver got a bit lost in sunderland so picked up a couple of red & white scarfers 2 get us 2 the ground. me, mate & grandad asked them where 2 go 2 get in with the rest of away fans (bastards) followed directions, paid at turnstiles draped in black & amber (not grandad!) patches on denim jackets & the nylon scarfes tied 2 wrists lol, walk up the stairs & in2 back of the roker kop! old bill there in a flash & took us down 2 pitch side & escorted the 3 of us 2 the few city fans in the oppisite end, all the way down the touchline chants of city aggro 2 thirteen year olds & a man in his late 60's early 70's lol still now (was class) lost 1-0 by the way.
The busful was otherwise occupied that day. It was 1969. Resulted in 2 City fans making the national papers as the first to have to attend a police station at 3pm on a Saturday under a new law which had just come in. Question asked in Parliament as police broke a number of rules in dealing with the whole thing. Brother of one of the 2 lads posts on here occasionally.
Went to Holland in 1979 pre season tour, and Gibraltar end of season tour in 1983,maybe 20 in Holland 15 in Gibraltar.can't recall ever playing in Malta
Twa Twagged school for match,4 of us stood on our own wearing colors well away from the rest of the City fans, had no bother at all.
I remember their coach getting done .. wasn't their goalkeeper injured as a result .. can't remember his name but was regarded as a good prospect hence why it hit the headlines
The banned 10 men went to mow were in South Stand seats and there was a battle with them on North Road.
