Still early doors yet,yes rock bottom at the moment but lets take a look at the season so far 1. We have lost 3 games against opposition currently occupying 1st,2nd and 5th in the table.Take away the second half performance against 5th placed Everton,we played well enough and I believe with a little luck could easily have come out with a couple of points against top opposition. 2.Against three teams currently occupying top ten positions ( Palace,Soton and West Brom), we played well in patches but lapses in concentration at the back meant instead of looking at 5 points gained we only took 2. 3. The only team that we have met so far from the bottom half of the table (Boro),whilst ending in defeat could and should have been at least a point. We should be sitting with 8 points at this stage instead of just the two. We now have 4 (3 away) of our next six games against teams around us and two from the top six (Arsenal H and Liverpool A).We are more than capable of getting 8 points from those fixtures .I would like to think I am being positive more than over optimistic but guys lets all have some positive thoughts and maybe we can turn this around. Please feel free to shoot me down in flames if you so wish but I believe we will turn the corner soon Haway the lads
Losing points to the top teams is at least partly expected. Plenty of teams will do that. As long as we put up a fight and give it a bloody good try that`s fine. Throwing (yes, throwing) away points when they are virtually in the bag is not acceptable. We can`t afford it. Rank average performances against the teams around us will not do. Moyes didn`t have much time but he had enough and didn`t need to do much. Keep M`Vila and Yedlin and bring in 3 upgrades. Back, middle and front. That would have done for now. He either didn`t or wasn`t allowed. Early season analysis - Poor and unless things start to gel sharpish likely to stay that way. Trying like hell to be positive but very little to latch on to.
You've got a point, it's not been a gentle start to the season and we haven't actually been that bad. There are plenty of teams in the league that are no better than us so if the pendulum swings in our favour on those days we'll be picking up points against them.
Roger you may well have something there on our current plight. The weather is mostly ****e in Sunderland even in the the summer, with occasional bright spells. Perhaps we could re-locate to the south east then maybe we could make progress in the premier league
Pops i agree with your comments on Moyes or the owner not doing the right things that we all know should have been implemented. I recall one press conference when Moyes was asked about the striker situation and he said "quote" Bentike we are not in that league to compete signing the likes of him! This told me that he was restricted from buying someone he probably would have been interested in So that giant of a football club Crystal Palace were able to comfortably sign him. Pound Land v Harrods (well I suppose Harrods is in ya Landan init)
Just need to finish above Hull, Burnley and a.n.other which there's quite a selection....keep the faith mate...where have you been the last five years? You not read the script?
A great post and I wish all going to the matches provide the same quality of support for at least 90 mins KTF
We've played Boro, Palace and West Brom at home and taken 1 point from those. We're giving these teams a head start again. Not good enough.
If it were a school report it would read :- Concentration span isn't very long, must try harder and lacks imagination.
It's bleak and its not unlikely we lose next 2 games then beat Arsenal - not good enough but as ever KTF
7/38ths of the season gone, plenty to go. You've got the other two teams in the bottom three next up, win either and you're probably out of the relegation zone, win both and you'll be almost mid-table. You've been below par so far but you've had a lot of injuries (Borini and Catts are needed!) and there's enough dross around that you don't need to step up much, just be a bit less **** and you'll be alright.
The last 2 season have seen Villa and QPR Relegated, at this stage of the season both these teams had 4 points. we have 2. On top of that we had a injuries to some key players and we now have a chairman who won't spend to bring in the quality we need. Its early, very early in the season.....but it ain't looking good and I'm not sure we have enough in the squad to keep in touch with the rest by the time the transfer window opens in January.
Genuine question - how many points did you have after 7 points last season or the season before? My recollection is that your first win was against us in late October?
We had 2 points after 7 games. We then drew with W.Ham. 10th game was 3-0 (Jones, Johnson, Fletcher) thanks for the 3 points
There we go, so you're no worse off than this time last year. You then struggled to pull away from relegation all season and yet somehow still survived. Don't know why any of you would be worried. Logically you're clearly ****ed but logic doesn't come into this - you're invincible.
