This post is related specifically to performance enhancing drugs/substances that are banned, not so much recreational. Problem with Sport in general is that the reward for winning or being the best in the world is so lucrative in terms of sponsorship etc etc. With that in mind, many people see a risk/reward element about it. 'If I take this drug/performance enhancement then I could become a millionaire if I win'. It's the win at all costs attitude that these people have taken into consideration and utilise the banned substances to the best of their ability while attempting to hide it. Couple this with the fact the policy on those caught is not one of zero tolerance, see Tyson Gay (American 100m runner) who kept his Nike sponsorship and was banned for 2/3 years (IIRC) then it's almost inevitable that people are going to do it. Athletics especially, is ****ed due to this. Tour de France is ****ed because of this. Probably so many more are suffering because of it.
Well as it wasnt. I was more hoping to go inside use of rec drugs in sports as opposed to this borefest. Which we all know happens
I can understand why performance enhancing drugs would be a temptation (our lot are obviously clean on that one) but recreational drugs are a different matter altogether. Millions of quids and 5 brain cells would seem to be the best combination for that. I don`t see why clubs can`t test all the players with additional random checks to make sure there are no fiddles with fines of millions if they do.
You started of so well. I was trying to focus on the Rec drugs. Everyone knows it rife inhouse in sports. Shall we start with PVA. If its gonna be anorher snorefest?
I sat with an ex footballer once in his house in Liverpool, about 6 of us getting caned for hours, he told me all sorts of juice, managers, players, owners, wags... Xmas parties, everything you'd expect.
I`m not really qualified to comment much really. I`m a nicotine addict and that`s my lot. I`ve no idea what the other things do. Never tried them. As far as PvA is concerned if he wants a smoke when he`s on his jollies that`s fine. Shoving stuff up his hooter at half time isn`t. Stay well away during term time and I`m fine with that. Any of the real hard stuff is an absolute no-no at any time.
My best mate from the forces is a bin dipper, straight up, we spent many a night getting fried on chop in that dump, but the gear was of a particularly good standard, so I was happy to j'habite dans le dump at that point in my existence.
Just that I hung out there a lot with my scouse mate, the narcotics were decent so I was happy to overlook the location.
I'm always using my phone after 6pm mate wifey does not let me use her laptop cos I put porno viruses on last time and had to buy her a new one.
