Enjoyed that. Virgil gave me a few moments, but apart from that, pretty good. Thought Charlie was a cert to score though. Even went as far as getting the first syllable of Yes.! out.

You can't expect too many chances in a game like this, you just have to take the ones that you do create. We all know that we are not clinical enough but the great thing is the defense was rarely troubled and we were the slightly better team IMO. Good point, I'm very happy with today's performance especially after a mid week game.

 

I think/hope that the addition of Boufal into the side will be a catalyst for more goals. But yes, wouldn't say no to another striker.

 

Virgil and Jose immense again, all 3 full backs solid at the back and good up front, Romeu and Højbjerg imperious, Tadić and Redmond full of tricks. Charlie should have scored at least twice.

Struggling to say anything good about Davis though...

 

Is Boufal injured or just coming back from injury. When he signed, they talked as if he was just unfit because of being laid off so long. Has this changed.

 

The problem with players like Clasie and Davis is that their best work is done off the ball and that doesn't get noticed.

Injured/lack of pre-season. I would have thought he'd be on the bench against Burnley, that's roughly the timescale Claude put.

 

I wonder who we would play at the base of the diamond if Romeu needs resting or is suspended, which he will inevitably be at some point this season!

 

Good point. We were the better side and 0-1 to us would have been a fair result. Romeu was immense - just wish we had an alternative to Redmond up front because he offers so little as a striker - far better in an AM role.

 

He isn't match ready.

I agree, and I am a big fan of Davis's work rate and commitment, but he didn't have a good game today.

 

Very pleased with these clean sheets...I know it's obvious but if they can't score you will get 1 or 3 points. I'm pretty happy with how it is going.

 

I was of the understanding that he was injured when we signed him and is still recovering.

 

Puel needs to accept that Redmond isn't a striker. If he does I will accept I was wrong about the diamond.

 

We played ALL of the football in that match, the only chances they had were what we gave to them.....Romeu is superb, Pierre is very promising, Jose is back to his best and Steven Davis was very influential. Overall a very good away performance against the reigning Champions.

 

Højbjerg, every time. He has gone there before, I think against Man U(???) when Romeu went off.
