Dwarfism is a specific condition many "dwarves" are not dwarfs but have other conditions which cause restricted growth . Seem to remember the PC version is now PORGy as in "person of restricted growth" yeah have seen the advert and it is a bit cringeworthy but you do still encounter the "does he take sugar" attitude.

by the way if you do meet someone of restricted growth for the love of god don't call them PORGy . Actually probably find most have never heard of it and the ones who have will probably think you are a hand wringing tosser for using it. one problem is the disabled community is split into numerous groups with differing agendas (a portion of the deaf community for example reject the idea that they are disabled for political reasons) plus there are so few disabled people in positions of influence. Anyway considering the unemployment rate among disabled people shock at seeing one as new member of staff is quite understandable
And they're probably right. Being deaf is an extra challenge but there are few things it disables you from doing. You can be deaf and lead a comfortable life without assistance.
