What do they have to unravel? They just have to agree trade deals with other countries. Why did they have to build good trade relations with the EU? Don't UK businesses sell to the EU and the EU businesses sell to the UK? It's got nothing to do with civil servants.

Do you understand the difference between giving advice and making decisions?

Whatever is negotiated will be passed back to be rubber stamped. It allows the civil service / ministers to take credit for the decisions made and Peter to claim private contractors didn't make the decisions

I'm sure it will all be done and dusted in a couple of days Pete, the Lawyers can then just concentrate on making the tea :)

It's a bit like paying the nerd to do your homework for you, and then passing it off as your own.

I think you are getting confused with current trade and future trade.

Brexit: May to trigger Article 50 by end of March
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37532364

"In an interview with the Sunday Times, the prime minister said the repeal bill would mark "the first stage in the UK becoming a sovereign and independent country once again".
"It will return power and authority to the elected institutions of our country," she said.
"It means that the authority of EU law in Britain will end."
Conservative Party chairman Patrick McLaughlin told BBC Breakfast this proved the party was "very serious" about starting the process of leaving the EU, but added negotiations would not be conducted in the public eye.
"You don't say exactly what you are going to negotiate on, but once negotiations are concluded we will say what we've achieved and how we've achieved it," he said.
"To give a running commentary on every last sentence and paragraph would be ridiculous." "

Do you understand the difference between 'Civil servants with almost no experience of complex trade negotiations'
and employing lawyers and accounts who spend their entire careers negotiating trade deals ?

It still plays on your mind you mean. The romance thing you keep going on about is wishful thinking on your part. Anyway, get the tea on and quick about it. <laugh>

Ministers will make the decisions, not civil servants or lawyers.

As @steveninaster1 has said, Ministers will rubber stamp the work that private Lawyers and Accounts are paid by the Tories to do.

So have the Govt conceded that they need a commons vote to repeal the 1972 act then?

So therefore how can article 50 be triggered before that vote takes place?

Or have I missed something here?

It still amuses me that a middle aged man would ask a stranger to meet up for a fight because they didn't like what he'd said about Chelsea.

    Then apologise.

And then claim that he just wanted to meet up for a chat.

Then start various "that's it I'm leaving the forum" threads.

And then come back to the forum.

It's the work of a fruitcake!

Carry on being deluded. You make something up and then complain about it.

I think we know who is deluded here. He just can't bring himself to admit that his pedantry was foretold.

You having a sugar crash or something ?

The FT article quite clearly stated that the Govt are seeking to employ private contractors to negotiate trade deals due to having 'Civil servants with almost no experience of complex trade negotiations'

Go and have a Mars Bar.
